The baby’s crying, Billy has soccer practice, Heather has ballet, and you have a paper due tomorrow on how the brain works, oh and you have to work today. How do you manage to keep it all straight? That’s a question that has been asked for years and yet thousands of people do it every day. But how do they do it? How do you manage school, family and work and be successful at it all? I am not sure how everybody else does it, but I can tell you what works for me.

For me it’s making time to go to the gym, every day, 0500. Yeah it’s early, but it sets my mind in the right direction for the day. Then off to work. But the main thing is to make time for things you enjoy and to give yourself a small break. You do not want to burn yourself out. You may need help, so ask. Can your spouse or significant other pick up some of the slack? I know if it wasn’t for my wife, I would be in to deep. She has a business of her own, and it takes a lot of her time, but, working together, we make it work. Yeah it’s difficult at times, but we push on because we both know the future benefits outweigh the current struggles. There may be dishes that need to be washed and laundry that needs to be done. Ask for help so that you will have time to study, also. Involve the children in some of the household chores so that you can bond with them while staying on schedule.
