Personal Essay: My Cultural Identity

Everyone has a different cultural identity, it’s not about where you’re from, what sport you play, what you look like. There are many examples of culture such as race, music, state, age, food, family, & sports. My cultural identity shows through my passion for music, sports(Basketball), & clothes. If I didn’t have any of these things apart of my culture I wouldn’t be the person who I am today. Basketball is something I want to get better at, so I practice and practice to get better at what I love to do. But for me basketball is my favorite hobby. Since basketball is my favorite hobby i practice either at my house or at the park for at least two to three hours a day. Everyone wears their own type of clothing whether if it’s big, small, tight, loose, baggy, or even saggy but everybody wears different clothes from each other. My clothes have to be matching with something i have on, like my shoes and it must be kinda big but not to big. You will see children and adults in the mall buying shoes but also trying to find some clothing to go wit the shoes. You can be a boy or a girl people will always different clothing style from each other.

Another thing about that my culture is well known for is food. My culture has a variety of food that we eat. It goes from seafood to home cook food. Some of our most greatest food is seafood such as crawfish, shrimp, seafood gumbo, & boudin because it’s apart of cajun culture. We like our food cooked with a little bit of home in it.

Culture also contains Family. Culture is a good thing because you have a lot of families but they are all different, some might be the same but not all of them.
