Hearing loss is dehumanization at its most natural, purest form. It’s such a terrible thing for it cannot be repaired. Helen Keller a true hero of educating the world that anyone with who is deaf and blind, even disability in general do have the strength and ability to strive for higher education. The only thing that prevents that unique individual to achieve that goal is someone who simply don't believe that those with disability can accomplish anything in life. Even the smallest little thing anyone can do. I was told by my next door neighbor, my cousin, my best friend's mother that once I do get marry, the very instance my husband finds out I have hearing loss, his family will vanished me from the household. Furthermore, I have proved people that I can learn and do anything just like any ordinary human being, the first: my parents. Born from a conservative Asian household, families with “disabled” child are often viewed with a lower class recognition by others. It was a social norm among the hmong communities. When it was officially solidify that I have hearing loss. My parents wanted to take advantage of me to see if I can qualify for social disability money benefits. I hated the idea not because I didn't want to receive the benefit but the way my father deceived me by misleading the case advisor about my hearing and ability to learn. “She can’t hear anything the teacher says. She can learn in class.” I felt completely dehumanize by his words. He lied about my ability to learn. I do have hearing loss but my hearing aids has helped me hear better. I didn't like being used so they can get free money. Although we were struggling financially then, he downgraded my own ability to learn. I respects my parent however, once the testing for the benefits arrived, I try my hardest to do well on the test to past. It was bittersweet to hear that I did not receive the benefits. From there I realised that if I can prove my parents wrong, realized that I can do anything. I started expanding my learning by taking advanced classes in school, joining after school
