Hockey, one of the toughest and probably also hardest sports to play. I say this because not only do you have to balance skating with “knife shoes” on ice, but you also have to stick handle correctly to make sure you are in control of the puck. On top of that, nothing makes the sport more iconic than the fist fights. I used to play when I was around 5 or 6 years old, and I decided to stop playing for various reasons, such as the equipments being too expensive, or too hard to maintain, and my dad thought the sport to be a little too dangerous for a kid like me. It’s quite relieving in many aspects actually, so that’s why I bought all the expensive equipment and decided to hit the ice again. I must say, I was way too rusty to even say I used to play. In fact, I was definitely at a beginner’s level. However, because I am so passionate about the sport, I made every effort and time that I can to go to the rink and to practice, especially my skating. And every Saturday morning, the rink I usually go to has a drop in hockey hour where there are 2 coaches that help us learn and play. That was when I realized that I was 1 out of the 3 girls who would attend daily to play with guys that are nearly 6 feet tall and probably around 200 pounds. That’s a huge difference, considering that I’m only 5’2” and weigh at 107 pounds. Oh, and many of them are experienced players who are in a small league.
