Academically I would say I’ve gone through many different styles of teachings due to me going to many different schools when I was younger, so I feel as though I’d be able to adapt quicker to Augsburg and thrive academically. From an emotional stand point I’d like to believe that I’ve had to grow up pretty quickly and I’m ready for new experiences. Socially I don’t think there would be a problem. I am a very social person and very accepting of everyone and would be excited to meet new people.
Throughout my High school career there have been a few obstacles that I’ve managed to overcome with tremendous gratitude for the people who helped me through it. During my sophomore year I switched from a performing arts High school, to a normal academic public school. It was a very hard switch academically, I wasn’t used to the way they taught things. My personal goals for college and for this program would be joining a club or activity, learning something that changes my very foundation of who I am and makes me think in a different way and to take a challenging course that tests my abilities. I think Summer Bridge would give me that college experience early on which would set me up for success when school actually starts.
A belief that I have and that I feel strongly about would be that, the only one you can count on is yourself. The reason I feel strongly about this is because I’ve watched my parents and other adults in my family rely on other people to help them only to have that person not help out. I don’t want to be caught in a situation like that. So learning that i’ve always tried to be independent and see what I can do on my own. If someone doesn’t necessarily share my same belief I wish the best for them. No one has to have the same beliefs, I’d still respect them and treat them the same
