SGT. Barrett and I contacted a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot that was parked in an unlit area at approximately 2300 hours. Once outside of our vehicle I started flanking toward the right side of the white Nissan Maxima, as the windows were darked out. SGT. Barrett went to the driver side of the vehicle, where the door was ajar, with a male sitting in the driver's seat with his feet planted on the ground I heard what sounded like a dense metal object fall onto the pavement from the driver's side of the vehicle.
As president, I serve as the leader of the group and set an outstanding example for the younger students. I make executive decisions regarding music, uniforms, etc. As quartermaster, I have organized and labeled uniforms, kept uniform maintenance a priority, and assigned uniforms. I became an FFA Officer at the be of my sophomore year. It happened like this. It was the day of our chapter FFA banquet, the banquet had began, people started filling in and I started to get so nervous. It was in the commons or lunch room of our high school. This was my first ever FFA banquet, besides our area one.
We were on a tour of the prison and that’s when the call came. “Breakout on Unit 3, we need backup.” Lieutenant Fitzy ran off to the lunchroom. The other officer in charge turned to us and commanded to be in a straight line against the wall. From where we were, we could see through the glass of the door, bodies flying on each other.
My sophomore year in high school, I was nominated to be inducted into the National Honor Society. It was an honor to be chosen, seeing that the teachers had to nominate you. Now all I had to do was be accepted. Induction into the National Honor Society required an essay telling about yourself and why you should be chosen. I didn’t think I was very good at telling “why” I should be chosen.
John Maxwell once said "a good leader is a person who takes a little more than his share of the blame and a little less than his share of the credit." Leaders aren’t always in positions of authority. They’re just standing by ready to take the reins if needed. Leadership is one of life’s most difficult tasks. It challenges individuals to go above and beyond.
As I am quickly approaching the end of my senior, I am looking back at how far I have come since freshman year and everything that Henley High School has helped me accomplish in my life. In preparation for the life that every senior must experience after school, the senior capstone project was put in place to help seniors find out what they would suit them as career and give them some of the necessary tools in achieving that. Part of the capstone was earning service hours at a non profit organization, that can go on a resume. With serving came a facilitator, who guides one’s service, and also the challenges and success of the service itself. To Provide help on future careers, Henley High School also provided an opportunity to take the CIS test
Imagine meeting a person that brought back memories of the worst time in life. Today I met a man named Derek. Derek had a very horrible attitude, so much so it reminded me of a leader that I used to work for a long time ago. In 2005 I was assigned to the United States Army Technical Escort Unit.
The first time I attended college I was very young; I was motivated to get my criminal justice career started. I thought I was on my way. I thought that there was no way I could’ve been stopped. Times took a turn for the worst or so I thought. The first thing that happened was that my father had fallen ill.
Chapter Eleven Upperclassman. It is what every high schooler looks forward to being. Being an upperclassman came with many new parts of school that I did not get to experience before. Prom, donkey basketball, and being one of the older kids were only a few of the ways that made junior year the best. Having the opportunity to experience these milestones with my friends kept the year filled with never ending laughter and joy.
Before leaving biology lab on December 6, I had the honor of interviewing the graduate assistant-teaching for biology 211 lab. During the interview I learned a lot of things about the teaching assistant like her background information and education. Her name is Lauren L and she is a graduate student at Iowa State University. Lauren has worked at Iowa State University for five semesters as a teaching assistant for biology 211 lab. She chose the teaching profession because she truly wants to teach and get some experience teaching undergraduates.
I am also a member of our school 's student council. I have been our class president for three consecutive years. Not only is this an honor, but it is also a grave responsibility. I have to take requisite action for certain things, while also considering other people 's opinions in a reverent and positive way. In student council, we must continuously propose ideas to better certain aspects of our school for our student body.
The first half of this semester was swift and I can’t believe how fast it passed by. College is a whole new world for me that I had never imagined with a lot of new experiences that I hope will shift me into a better and smarter person. There are more things I can do in college that I would have never dared to do in high school and I am happy for these new freedoms. I am able to eat in class, leave class without asking and they don’t care if I pay attention or not. My high school teachers would always tell me to wait for the bell, sometimes would not let me leave and if I did not pay attention they would yell.
Eight years ago I walked into a Navy recruiter's office and said, " If I join today, when is the soonest I can go to boot camp? " I did not know what to expect. However I was sure of one thing, and that was that I wanted to join the United States Navy. As those eight years ensued, the Navy began to mold me physically and mentally. Some of the changes I underwent were positive, and others were rather uncouth.
I believe that the mission of a student ambassador is to promote the vision, growth and quality of University of Maryland, by optimizing the experience of current students, prospective students and special guests. I would like to be a student ambassador primarily because I want to get more involved with the university; not to mention the positive impact it will have on my CV. I would also gain experience in public speaking, building friendships with fellow ambassadors and develop my leadership skills. Furthermore, this offers a responsibility that can be both challenging and extremely rewarding.
