The things about me are different from many other people I like to dance, I love vegetables, and I I also hate liars. The first thing you need know about be is that I’m a dancer. Healthcare was an unplanned career for me. I am not one of those people who knew that I was going into healthcare from an early age. I spent twelve years in and out of the foster care system and worked as a warehouse laborer. Did I even have the opportunity to consider my passion at all? I was asked, “Where are you going from here?
I began college in 2014 at the age of 58 years-old to change my area of employment and do something that is far more interesting to me, working within the social services field. I realize the fact I was brought up by two dysfunctional, abusive parents in a chaotic home lead me to search out that same type of familiar relationship when I left home at the age of seventeen. In short, I married a domestic violence abuser and alcoholic when I was 19 years-old and had 5 children. Ten years into the marriage, when I had finally reached the end of my rope, a local police officer helped me to obtain a Protection from Abuse order and removed my husband from the home. This era was the birth of the Protection from Abuse orders and for me and this new
During the summer, I had an eagerness to find a job; I wanted to keep myself occupied, so I applied everywhere, not concerning myself of the job description. I even applied for a janitorial positions; the thought of money was in my head. After applying to multiple jobs, I finally got accepted into American Swim Academy. I thought the job required a lifeguard, but little did I know, I had applied to be a swim instructor; I applied to a numerous job positions that I forgot what I applied for. They had assigned me classes with the skill levels of the child; I had to basically teach kids to swim.
Hong!!! The sound of the horn blows in my ear as the final second’s ticks off the clock. Looking up at the score board with anger in my eyes and sweat glistening upon my face. Standing in the middle of the field with my helmet dangling in my right hand, I watch as the other team cheer with laughter, hand shacks, and an over whelming victory. I will never able to put my trust in any coaches.
As I said, I was never great at basketball, but my team was. I played for the Greenbelt Rec team where everyone was pretty good, but I wasn’t. My coach, Andy, was great and very encouraging and he made me feel like I was the best, even if I did horribly. I felt like a star, until I turned ten and my coach was Damon. Damon made everyone feel bad about themselves, especially those not in his starting five.
Coaching has many different fields that goes along with the job. For instance, there is baseball, softball, tennis, track, cross country, basketball, and football. All these different types of sports require coaches. Some of these fields of coaching require more practice, time, and patience than others. The most time consuming sport would have to be football, this would be a good job for people who have allot of free time.
After completing my bachelor’s degree, I will take the necessary classes required by my state and the National Board of Emergency Medicine, so that I may obtain my Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification. Obtaining my EMT certification and working in that field will be beneficial to me when it comes to being an Athletic Trainer. I have always had a passion for helping people, and a passion for the healthcare field. I know just how important it is to have a dedicated Athletic Trainer when you are trying to recover from a sports injury and when trying to prevent future
Nursing, and everything that it entails, cannot be easily described in just one simple word or phrase. It goes beyond the meaning of a profession and the stereotypical definition of treating the ill. Nursing is the “protection, promotion, and optimization of health and abilities, prevention of illness and injury, alleviation of suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human response, and advocacy in the care of individuals, families, communities, and populations” (American Nurses Association, 2010, p. 1). Therefore, it is a career that requires dedication, passion, critical thinking, and knowledge. It demands commitment and an understanding of its core values and concepts, as well as the nurse’s own personal philosophy and principles.
Sports business, a field of business that peaks every sports fan’s interest in majoring in. On November 20th, I attended a faculty lecture at 3:00 with Michael Mokwas and John Eaton pertaining to sports business. Going to the faculty lecture, I was curious of what I was going to learn. I thought that the lecture was going to go to tell me what classes a sports business major has to partake in, but the lecture mainly focused on what careers evolved from a sports business major. John Eaton informed everyone about the connections he knew.
Today is my third meet with mentor. The main goal was to do the checklist from confirmation. Getting done with the checklist will allow me to go forward to takes pictures with clients. I was really excited to meet with my mentor Dr. Martinson to go over the checklists. At first, she went over about the three main exposures, which is the ISO, aperture, and shutter speed.

For my networking assignment I chose a professional in my field whom I know very well. The professional is my previous athletic trainer, who is the reason I wish to pursue this line of work. Her name is Jaime Aji, she has her Masters of Science in Athletic Training as well as Athletic Trainer Certified (ATC). Jaime has been working as the Athletic Trainer at Nutley High School for the past eight years. Before asking some general questions about Mrs. Aji’s job, I thought it would be best to start off with the pros and cons of the career field.
It was quite Monday in spring, a normal day but for me and my team it was a big day. We have been working hard because we lost the championship last year it would be good for us to come out this year and win the championship.
