My most challenging experience to date is being assistant coach to a local girls’ football team. I sustained a triple fracture to my ankle and whilst recovering, was advised to cease playing to avoid sustaining further damage. The slow recovery time became a test of endurance and taught me an invaluable lesson of being patient and understanding. By this time, my sister had become interested in playing and having introduced her to a local girls’ team, I decided to undertake the role of assistant coach.
The journey has come to an end, since the first day I ever put cleats on to play was one of the most amazing feelings ever. I couldn’t have been more blessed to the gamed of football. As a young child my dad always had me in that sport or doing something active as if it was cleaning the house or being outside with him or hanging out with friends around the neighborhood. When Odessa High let the freshman be a part of the football program, we were the first class to play as bronchos. I was a little disappointed to know I was going to be wearing red already instead of purple one last time.

My friend and I had scored most of the points for our team, but my coach called an isolation play for the one girl on the team who hadn’t scored a single point all season.
