I am Nick Drew, senior football player at Campbell University looking to one day become a Division 1 Football Head Coach. What I want in life is for my family and I to be happy and successful. I think those are two of the biggest, yet simplest things about life. If I’m happy and successful then I believe that everything else will fall into place. Along with my family being happy and successful I also want my players that I coach to be happy and successful.
Isabella, one of the most lively young girls I have ever met, told me that it was “a sad day I left [when the season ended]” and whispered to a new cheerleader “She[me] is the best.” as I was introducing myself to her. Emily, a girl with such a bubbly and outgoing personality, was eager for me to see her newly improved cartwheel she had been working on for months. It was a humbling feeling to know that I was able to make such an impact that they were counting down the days to when they could see me again. My entire athletic identity has been formed by strong leaders and their omnipresence in my life is what made my decision to begin coaching the best one I’ve ever made.
North Andrew hadn’t been to a state championship game since the early 90’s. This isn’t acceptable in a small football town like mine. Everyone knew something had to change. It wasn’t until my sophomore year in 2012 that we finally made it back to a state championship. We had a new coach that year and a lot of talent.
I know that just as I did, the underclassmen are struggling with all their might so they can snatch the starting spot from under me. Understanding that I must begin every practice as if my job were on the line I go out onto the field every day with a fiery passion. Although I
It was a Fall night wear the stars were out and all you could ever do is hear coach yelling to stop moving away from our positions. That night we were training for a very important soccer tournament that was only a couple weeks away. Coach smith liked to win but i think what he liked most was that we tried our best. We were a very hard team to defeat but we had our moments where we would lose games by a landslide.
Walk-On I woke up in my hotel bed on a Saturday. This day could make me or break me. The scouts from Ohio State, Notre Dame, and the University Of Michigan would be there. If I perform like I did this whole season I will have a full ride football scholarship from these schools and many others.
Recovery Programs Perth Amboy What are recovery programs? Recovery programs are courses of treatment that bring the patient into a state of mindfulness regarding their addiction and help them to realize what effect substance abuse and addiction has had on their physical health, mental function, and emotional well-being. Recovery programs based on a 12-step approach feature elements of reconciling past behavior and errors in judgment, making amends to people that the addict has wronged, and help to form a new path that includes life-long recovery.
Ever since middle school sports have always been an interest of mine. When choosing my high school the sports that were offered was one of the many things that I took into consideration. I signed up for cheer during high school orientation. At the first practice, It was a new experience for majority of the girls; we had no prior experience. As time went on, our skills increased.
Last year I became captain on the Soccer Varsity team of my high school. Being captain isn’t just being the head of all the girls, but is doing the best for the team. My goal was to work as a team in and outside the field, and working together to win and have fun. But my conflicts with certain girls were getting in the way, because how can I expect them to do a certain thing if I’m not setting an example. I chose to talk to those girls, set things straight and set an example to my teammates.
Darry was the 1 string quarterback for the high school football team him and Paul Holden was the dream pair with him in the backfield he could throw to him in the flats he will at least get 5 yards every time. I never liked Paul he was always a jerk to everyone even his girlfriends and somehow Darry hung out with him push each other into walls on our dirty street that we called home and the nice clean one that had never seemed to have dirt on it seemed that Paul lived on. Paul hated when I was the third wheel like they were on a date. Then I hear something between all of the cars honk at each other because everyone is on their phone I never want to be a driver myself because I hate the honking sound of a car. I heard Johnny's mom in the distance
Streets were shut down, but my team and I still managed to make it to the nationals cheerleaders association competition. Their mantra is “the work is worth it,” but we’ll see. This was like the olympics of cheerleading and I couldn’t wait. My team and I had been working for months on perfecting two minutes and thirty second of the hardest routine we have ever had. Blood, sweat and tears were shed on a daily.
One grueling afternoon in Gulf Shores, Alabama my baseball team found ourselves down 5-0 in the 3rd inning of the championship game. This game was like the world series for us, we had a chance to be champions of the country. The field had burnt orange clay and a vaguely green grass, the sun was setting making the clouds look like bright pink cotton candy. The best part was you could smell the salt water and hear the seagulls fly above. The team we were playing was called California Elite, they were remarkably intimidating.
Putting My Best Foot Forward I have changed a lot over the course of my life, positively diversifying and expanding myself into the person I am today. One thing however has always remained constant for me, and that is my love for soccer. At just three years old I recall my first memory of the game, I was mesmerized by the formations of the kids playing and how the ball moved so swiftly; I insisted on joining.
My eighth-grade year, I tried out for the school’s co-ed soccer team and was confident that I would make the team. During the three hard days of try-outs, I pushed myself to improve each day and received several compliments from the coaches. On the last day, the head coach pulled me aside to tell me
The season started out like any other, one week of pain staking agony and push-ups. The constant workouts, sweat, and two hour practices were completely worth the outcome of my last volleyball season. The past four years of my high school career I spent being a member of the volleyball team. But to me, this is not just a team, this is my family.
