“Unfortunately, Jack, there will not be many opportunities for you this year.” Seconds after being told I had made the varsity baseball team, I did not expect my coach to so bluntly tell me I would be spending more time watching the game than playing it. Our state ranked team had a pitching staff full of Division 1 commitments and future MLB draft picks, and I was being told I did not measure up. The bench became my best friend.
I have been interested in baseball ever since I was three, I went to a cardinals game and I got a monkey. I know it sounds weird but they had a monkey with velcro hands and feet and I would hang him around my neck all the time. I still have the monkey today.
As the baseball diamond started to fade in and out of my blurry vision, I realized something was wrong when I was still sitting on the bench. I was on varsity baseball, my grade point average was rising, and I was surrounded by positive people all around me who gave off a positive vibe. Of course, all good times must come to an end right? Well my good times came to end quickly.
One day I woke up and got ready for school then I remembered it was the baseball tournament. So I grabbed my bat and glove and went to school. At the end of the day,it was hufflepuff vs gryffindor it was a good game 11 to 2 that was the semi finals we played hard they did to ,did we played harder the finals were in two weeks but we had sweet victory tell the finals.
I turned on my TV to find a classic Angels baseball game on. The first event that was shown was Pete Rose up to bat. I closed my eyes and then opened them to the ball gliding out of the pitcher's hand like a stealth bomber. Pete crushed the ball and the crowd screamed. I whispered to myself, "One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, and nine."
I would like to get better at baseball because that's what i like to do is play baseball. The thing about baseball is that it's a fun sport to play. I played since i was 6. To get better i must get better at throwing, bating, Etc,... Also i have to amplify my skills.
If you’re like me, then when you see your career portrayed in movies or television, you get hyper-critical and pick apart every detail. Nothing is ever right. No one would ever act that way in that situation, no matter how much it fits the plot or the character. So you wave your hand, roll your eyes, rant, rave, and absolutely refuse to throw in the towel and let the fight die. The worst part is that you know better.
With one minute left, my coach called a timeout. My team was down by one. Our shooting guard was tired. During the game, he ran slow, with sweat trickling down his face. “Rob, you 're in,” said my coach.
Most people do not believe that becoming a professional athlete is possible, but I think that with the right preparation, it is possible for me to achieve my career goal of becoming a professional soccer player. For people to acquire the career of their dreams, they will need to set themselves a series of goals. These goals will be conquered over varying time periods, while some goals take just hour or days or others that take weeks, months, or even years. Each career will require different preparation, but for me as an aspiring soccer player I will need to practice very often.
it seems to me that what any man’s beliefs are depends upon how he spends his life. I’ve spent a good part of mine as a professional baseball player and the game that I play for a living is naturally a very important thing to me. I’ve learned a lot of things on the baseball diamond about living — things that have made me happier and, I hope, a better person. I’ve found that when I make a good play and take my pitcher off the hook, it’s just natural for me to feel better than if I made a flashy play that doesn’t do anything except make me look good for the grandstands. It works the same way off the ball field, too.
Perfection is unattainable, but every team strives for it. My Junior year, so far, has been a perfect season for color guard. By no means are my teammates and I perfect at our sport, however, we strive for something unattainable: perfection. The amount of work that we put into this sport is much higher than most sports teams put into their games.
The Sport is a devastating road to heartbreak and failure. (I suggest, To experience sports, you have to experience heartbreak and failure - sounds a bit awkward to say “the sport”). It is the definition of it. Don't get me wrong, sports can lead to success, fame, and many other glorious things that others can't imagine. Like the money, land and the "acquaintances"
Have you ever felt a strong detestation for anybody? Somebody you felt was replacing you, in something that meant everything to you. For example, a sport. Have you ever made a false assumption about anybody but became friends with them in the end? My companion was at first my worst enemy.
In sixth grade I began to play golf after I received my first set of golf clubs for my birthday. I immediately went to the driving range to try out my new clubs. When I hit my first good golf shot I fell in love with the game. I began to start practicing on a daily basis and I also decided to start participating in tournaments. When the spring of my freshman year came around, I tried out for the golf team.
Putting the fun back into physical activity for children will do wonders to foster PA. You don’t see children playing in neighborhoods anymore. A constructive approach to developing outdoor free play is, in my opinion, the cornerstone of developing a love of doing, moving, and being physically active. Many children don’t enjoy the harshness of competitive sport (I was one of them) but do enjoy being out and about doing things. As a child play that involved running, cycling, swimming, and skating were all the things that I truly loved.
