Often times in life it is failing that allows for true growth in a person. It is the nature of life for everybody to experience some type of failure, to be challenged, faced with a decision. A decision that after being knocked down it is possible to get back up. Because success is, and continues to be defined as getting up one more time than being knocked down. To make a declaration that instead of submitting to whatever obstacle, overcome it refusing to be held back. Not febily accepting that some things in life are “just meant to be” but instead taking control knowing that life is like a clay model; it can be molded into whatever we want. One life defining failure that impacted me was my transformation as a distance runner that found no success in running competitively into one that is able to compete at the state championship level. Stepping on the track to attempt to race meant hoping I will not get last place, that just maybe the opposing team has a poor soul as sluggish as I. However even if I was fortunate enough that they did, the outcome of second to last hurt my pride just as much. The frustration was immense, and I decided that I was going to change. I knew that in order for me to get from where I was to somewhere else things were going to be hard, but I took full responsibility to achieve this goal, this dream. One defining moment when I knew that I would allocate my entire being to achieving this goal was during the Varsity boy’s pre-sectional championship meeting.
