When I finished the book I decided. Engineering is the way.
This quote opened very large doors, because I started thinking with another mind, an open mind and I started having a world vision that I thought I would never have. I’ve always been curious and since I was young I always liked open machineries. In Italy I studied various subjects such as Literature, history and geography but from the first few months I understood that they weren’t for me.
I still remember it as it was yesterday. Mid-August and my sister’s laptop was freaking out. It took 3 minutes to me to fix it. Not bad for a 12 years old with no experience. Having explored several different devices, from little blenders to old mobile phones, with a genuine interest in mechanics, only helped to push me into the engineering field. During this time I learnt, and I’m still learning, very important skills that help me during my daily life such as team work, leadership and time management. I also played water polo in Italy and my coach told us from the very first day of training “When you reach your limit, that’s the point when you have to start pushing harder”, and kept repeating it for the following 5 years. This was the push that I needed in order to move forward in achieving my objectives.
