For my 13th birthday, I was given the components to build a computer. I had never built a computer before, and I had no experience with this kind of technology. But after a few hours of tinkering with the components, I was able to get the rig built and running. I was immediately hooked. The experience of working with technology in that way became an instant passion for me. I continued working with computers all throughout high school. I tried my best to learn how their hardware worked, how their software was built, and what benefits they could provide to our society. When it came time to choose a college and pursue a major, I knew right away that a career in the Management Information Systems field was perfect for me. Someone in the information systems space of a company may spend one week working with engineers on their record keeping database, and how they can more effectively map out their designs, and the next week working with human resources on how they can utilize technological tools to better communicate with the rest of the company. With modern technology growing at the rate it is, information systems are becoming more and more valuable to companies.
