Community service is not just something I do to be a part of National Honor Society. Community service is more to me. To volunteer and do good for my community and others are the major reasons for me completing my service hours. Just seeing other people’s lives brighten up because of my help is my reward. The service hours I completed were coaching and leading lacrosse clinics and practices for girls ages six to seventeen. As you can see, I personally love lacrosse and jumped at the opportunity to help younger kids learn to love the game that has given me so much. I personally grew immensely from this experience. The most memorable experience of hillcrest lacrosse was the fall clinics, they were always so much fun and exciting, especially because of the older kids that ran them. When the clinics came by this fall, I knew that I needed to help. My friend, Deirdre, and I were put in charge and lead the eight clinics for the girls. While leading, I learned a lot more than I expected. I learned patience, kindness, the ability to laugh at almost everything, and especially, I learned that you can make friends of all ages. After the first clinic, I had automatically become best friends with these kids. They were always so happy and excited to be there. From those kids, I learned that you always have a reason to smile. The ability to help with these clinics and give back to the organization that gave so much to me was probably the best experience of my life. My other volunteer experience was very similar but also very different. I again was coaching lacrosse to girls ages six to seventeen but this time, I was volunteering at the club lacrosse program that has made me into the person I am today.
