My extensive experience in a classroom environment has helped me to understand and appreciate the role of a teacher and how they can have such an impact of children’s lives. Therefore, as a teacher, I hope to be a part of transforming the lives of children building their skills and knowledge, helping give young children the best possible start in life, and seeing how they grow and change as an individual.

In the summer 2015 I worked for the National Citizen Service as a team leader for young people. We went to an activity camp in the Isle of Wight where I was a positive role model for the young people, supporting and encouraging them though challenges they faced throughout each day on the camp. For example, a girl on my team was in a wheelchair due to having a physical disability; this meant that she was unable to participate in many of the activities. However one of the activities she was able to join in on was a 3G swing. She asked me to join her on the swing and it was one of the scariest things I’ve done, although it was definitely worth it to see the smile on her face knowing that she could join in and be a part of the team, and also to watch my team cheer us on. However next time I’ll be cheering my team on from the ground. Situations like this encouraged my team to bond and support each other, and as a team leader I ensured that I was always there to be a positive role model and to motivate my team through challenging
