Why Is Work Based Learning Important

In todays society there are numerous jobs that continue to stay vacant because there are not enough people who have the skills to perform well on the jobs that are vacant. This is a huge problem in our society and illustrates why there is a great need for work- based learning and industry engagement in K-12 education. My position on work based learning is that there needs to be a mandatory initiative that includes work- based learning to be included in K-12 curriculum. I also believe work-based learning includes three important pillars, career awareness, exploration and preparation.
