I thank you for being vulnerable and transparent with your own struggles of insecurities and inadequacies. Your response reminded me of Erwin McManus session, he took it to place that I think most of us are unwilling to share with others. When it comes to struggles it is okay to share with people that we trust, but it is difficult to share with people that may judge us.

In-Depth Bible Study/ Sermon Part one 1st Timothy 3:1-13 Theme: Instruction and Qualification on Leadership I have arrived at the Greenfield Corps about six weeks now. This is my first appointment, and I have taken a lot of inventory since I got here over the month. The previous officer’s farewell brief outlined a few Corps programs, which included Bible study, women’s ministry, and Sunbeam, basketball league. It has come to my attention that the spiritual aspect of the Corps seemed to be lacking.

Based on the context of the Central UMC, the sermon was deeply rooted in the project goals of the preacher. It was for me very clear to understand why the preacher chose the above project goals in terms of catching the vision. One of the strengths of the sermon lied at the center of the scripture which effectively described the theme of the sermon. As long as the scripture truly is God’s revelation, the sermon may reveal God’s active presence. In this sense, the sermon signified God’s active presence of healing and restoration, and strongly empowered the congregation to celebrate how they have done led by the Holy Spirit.

Since from a theological point of view, death precedes resurrection, the platform and journey of resurrection requires a “molding” work.

Ever since, I have grown in favor with the Lord. I understanding more as I prep my speeches for lads, look at the words in the songs I’m leading, or when it comes time for bible bowl, not just memorizing the verses but actually letting them sink in and take root. These practices have given me a better knowledge of both the bible and His will for me. The past few years it has become exceptionally easy for me to prepare a speech, correctly pitch a song, and recall verses. During the interview with Timothy Hughes, Pastor of the First Baptist Church, many difficult and probing questions were asked to discover the heart of his decision making process. The pastor, making himself available for this interview answered with much openness and transparency revealing how he makes decisions regarding a variety of issues. In regards to fear and its impact on his decision making, one could ascertain that this pastor uses acknowledgement of his fear to provide balance in this process. Decision made in regards to sermon preparation time is deemed to vary as he tries to “utilize a variety of sermon methodology or sermon preparation.”
311.9 Formulate clear and specific goals for continuing pastoral formation with reference to personal strengths and weaknesses. With the help of my CPE peers and supervisors, I am now able to use pastoral authority more effectively, although it is still a struggle. I am still not certain how people can make statements like “God has made me a pastor,” when I believe that a church system made them a minister. While I do well when visiting parishioners in hospitals and praying for them, I am still hesitant to use pastoral authority while answering parishioners ' theological questions about issues on which the Biblical texts are either silent or ambiguous. The simplest example is: Will my loved one go to heaven without a belief in Jesus Christ?
