They have a myriad of state qualifiers, two District 10 titles, one metro title, and four regional titles. I feel I would have more of a chance of earning scholarships to colleges when I get older. Describe how the four pillars of National Honor Society have shaped your development. How will you apply these pillars to your future goals? The four pillars of the National Honor Society are scholarship, service, leadership, and character. These four pillars have shaped my development on becoming a stronger individual.
With their help I left John Edgar Howard elementary school with a strong head on my shoulders, and the devotion to strive for more. I had to move to a different elementary school because John Edgar Howard Elementary ended up being closed, because of the rough neighborhood. I then, attended Bradbury Heights; a school that I didn’t know existed. I was never exposed to many different neighborhoods, or opportunities. I managed to graduate and proceed to middle school where I continued my athletic career of basketball, and outstanding academic profile.

When asked “What does it mean to be described as “a person of character” it brought two things to my mind, what is a character and as to what kind of character am I. The choices we made throughout our life help mold the proverbial clay that is our character; from where we decided to sit at the lunch table when we were in pre-school to whether or not we picked up some trash that laid on the ground and threw it away, these choices big or small created our character. Breaking down the question a person of character, in essence, is who we really are as people. The things that we say, do, and experience are the things that separate and make each and every single one of us are own unique individual, but what is my character? I reflect back trying to think of everything I have done, and it's hard to come up with my character.

Imagine meeting a person that brought back memories of the worst time in life. Today I met a man named Derek. Derek had a very horrible attitude, so much so it reminded me of a leader that I used to work for a long time ago. In 2005 I was assigned to the United States Army Technical Escort Unit.
At 5:45 AM the alarm on my phone blared some generic default tone that I had never gotten around to changing. This was probably the earliest I’ve ever gotten up in my entire life. I groggily removed myself from the pile of blankets on the floor that I had been sleeping in and headed for the shower, brushed my teeth, washed my face and searched my near empty closet for something to wear on my first day of school. Although I was absolutely exhausted and there was yet to be any furniture in my room, I was thrilled to be transferring to Pattonville High School in midst of my junior year and living in a bigger house in a better community.
Starting a new school can be described best as terrifying. I was expected to not only start a new school, but also make new friends and try my best to fit in. It was decided that my siblings and I would attend a private christian academy in order to have a more spiritually focused aspect of education. After attending the first school for a few years, it was decided to switch schools and attend the school I am currently at. This decision was based on the fact that the spiritual environment would be much stronger, as well as teachers who shared more values in his or her spiritual walk.
I aspire to be in the National Honors Junior Society program. I wish to be accepted and it is an honor just to be invited to such a program. I have been looking forward to this program and being accepted shows me that I have achieved my goals to be the best student I can be. It means a lot to me as a student and on a personal basis as well. The whitcomb middle school staff has always encouraged me to R.O.A.R.
I, Toni-Andreas Gozum, identified as a scholar, volunteer, leader, citizen, and, certainly, a character, demonstrate the pillars of National Junior Honor Society in all areas of life. I do my best to display each pillar through my conduct. I am expected to work efficiently, professionally, and honestly, and I can assure you that my work follows these guidelines. I, personally, have an obligation to exceed my expectations. I plan to apply to the Math and Science Academy at Ocean Lakes High school and the Technology Academy and Governor’s Stem at Landstown High school.
Also, my school has an alternate program which is a place for a smaller classroom environment. As well as, close supervision and individualized attention to improve grades, and assistance in curbing excessive absences. Which lowers the dropout rate compared to other school. As well as a clubs, sports, and other activities are funded. All these components are key factors to why the majority of the population attend college and have the opportunity to be an NCAA athlete including myself.
