I’ve been playing videogames since I was little kid. I remember always coming home starting up the PS2 and playing of Star Wars Battlefront. Much of what got me into playing videogames was the influence of my older Siblings; My sister Emily (the definition of a sweet girl) and my brother Taylor (what every “cool older brother” was). They are the ones who led me to my favorite hobby and my future career. As little kid I would say I never got past being a “casual gamer”. I can’t wait to get home from school, throw my shoes off, crack open a Cherry Coke, and sit down to play a good game. There is nothing I enjoy more than being able to enjoy a few games with friends after a long, stressful day. Playing video games since I was a kid has helped me get a good grasp on most games and how they work. I can now start a completely new game without taking much time to get used to it. I have long since moved from my PS3 and started PC gaming. I enjoy PC gaming significantly more because it allows a much larger variety of games and customizability. With that transmission and better understanding of games in general I have come to see much more than playing games as a pastime. Video Games are very complex and dynamic pieces of art. Much how when you view a painting you can see a style, a meaning behind the work, and the passion that went into making it. For me videogames are a hybrid and the ultimate way of telling a story. They combine elements from every art form. Cinematography(movies), styles(painting/drawings), or even books(maybe “data logs” around the game world that you can read for back story).
