I didn’t always love to read. A lot of my classmates know me as the one who actually enjoys reading outside of school; however, it wasn’t always like this. Before I read one certain book, my “gateway book”, I didn’t appreciate reading. The book series that I read right before seventh grade changed my view on reading completely. It wasn’t a day that would seem memorable. The weather wasn’t special and the morning seemed pretty average, until my friend walked onto the bus with a new book in his hand. “What book did you start today?” I questioned.
“It’s the third book in the Heroes of Olympus Series by Rick Riordan which comes after the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. You should read them, they’re really good!” he responded.

We left the store and the sun had already begun to set. Acquiring the book got me excited since I hadn’t really read for my own pleasure in a long time. I stepped into my freezing room, and started reading the book.
The book took me about two or three weeks to read since it takes me a while to get into a new book series. My mom bought me the next two books, and it took me about the same about of time to read those two also. The ending of the third book was so shocking, it had finally hooked me into the series. I started the fourth book in the series; it took me less than two days to read. Soon after that, I was reading three to four books per week. Soon enough, school had started.
When my friend came on the bus, we had a long conversation about the book series without spoiling the last three out of eleven that I hadn’t gotten to yet. That’s how we spent most of the bus rides to and from school that year, and I loved
