Percy Jackson The Lighting Thief By Rick Riordan

I am reading the book Percy Jackson The Lighting Thief by Rick Riordan. It is a fantasy book with 375 pages. So far, our main characters are Percy Jackson, Sally Jackson, Chiron, also known as Mr. Brunner, Annabeth Chase, and Grover. To start off, Percy Jackson is a troubled 12 year old with ADHD and dyslexia. He is attending a boarding school called Yancy Academy. He has black hair and green eyes, he is also very sarcastic and speaks whatever he is thinking. He is our main protagonist. Next is Chiron/Mr. Brunner, at the start of the book he is Percy’s Latin teacher at Yancy Academy, it is then found out later that he is a centaur,working at camp Half-Blood. He is very wise and sure of himself. He is described at the beginning to have whispy

There are multiple conflicts in the book so far although the main one is Percy trying to find who he is with his new discovery of being a demigod. We learn early on that Percy is always doing something to get him expelled from school and has been to 6 new schools in 6 years. At his current boarding school for troubled kids called Yancy Academy, all the kids went on a field trip to a museum. All was going well until Percy got upset with Nancy Bobofit for tormenting Grover and something unexplainable happened. It was almost as if the water from a fountain next to them came up and grabbed Nancy. Although to everyone else it looked like Nancy was pushed into the fountain by Percy. Percy's Pre-Algebra teacher, Miss. Dodds pulled him aside for what he thought would be a scolding, but turned out to be much different. Mrs. Dodds transformed into a mythological creature called a Fury and tried to kill him. He is left defenseless until Mr. Brunner tossed him a ballpoint pen that transformed into a bronze sword. When Mrs. Dodds lunged to attack, Percy was left with no choice but to slash the sword in defense leaving Mrs. Dodds disintegrated when the blade passed through
