Personal Narrative: From My Adaptation To America

This topic is truly interesting and exciting topic, especially for the one who considers himself as a person who is already so much different than anybody else. Why? There aren’t many high schoolers who have just emigrated to the States like me. I have not seen that many students who have just emigrated from their country. There are myriad of difficulties that people like me have to encounter and have to go through. And like any other students throughout these 2 years of my life in America I have faced tons of difficulties and went through many hardships as well. But the thing is, there are so much of these people who are different than you. Getting along with them and having a good relationship is so hard that sometimes you have to give yourself up and become a new kind of person. This might sound really odd, but that’s the way I have been trying since last 2 years and it worked pretty well. You can not expect others to change their all traits and attitudes, there must be a moment when you have to make concessions and just react to them with a big smile. The point is, when you realize that you are one of the minority and are different than others, in my case everyone who were born in United States, however, and want to be accepted to their group, you have to be the first person who changes yourself and is willing to be accepted. It is not an easy job to change yourself and get adapted to new environment. Based on my experience, it requires much time and effort to do so. If there were different alternatives and better solutions, I would have made different decision. Nevertheless, the decision I made was pretty positive and I am fastly adapting myself to this country. It is always hard to accept people who are different from you and get accepted by them. Showing my respect towards them, understanding what kind of situation they are in, and most importantly, trying to change myself have helped me to be accepted by people who are different from
