Personal Narrative: Going To Louisiana

I was never interested in tractors until I went to Louisiana last summer. Going to Louisiana was one of the best things that has ever happened to me during my life. Going to Louisiana was so awesome being able to watch and drive enormous diesel tractors and watch my uncle cut rice with a combine(which is a machine that is used to cut rice on a farm. It helped me learn about rice and the machines that farmers use to cut rice. I got to see where the rice is stored after it is cut, my uncle dries out the rice to get all the moisture out before they sell it and take the rice out of the rice bins. My uncle showed me where the rice bins were and we watched trucks full of rice dump the rice into a machine that put it in the bins. My cousin and …show more content…

We were talking about mostly tractors and football. I told him what position I played and he told me what he played also. After a while of getting the rice from the combine in the rice cart my cousin asked me if I wanted to try and drive the rice cart. I was surprised that he asked,"Do you want to drive." Now I was anxious to get behind the big tractor's wheel. We switched seats and he told me all of the buttons and controls on how to drive and how to stop the tractor. After that I started to drive and it was actually easier than I thought it was going to be. It was the most fun things that I ever did in my life. The most fun part about driving was shifting gears. The higher you shifted up the faster speed the tractor would accelerate. After a while me and my cousin switched back seats and I got out and went and told my dad what a great experience I was having driving this Giant blue New Holland tractor. Ever since this trip to Louisiana, I have learned to like tractors even more than I ever did before. I now am more interested in farming now and I may consider it as a job when I become older. My cousin even showed me the controls to drive the tractor and my uncle showed be what rice bins are used for and how they work. Farming is very interesting if you actually know how things function and now I know some of these
