Known facts: A resident of sixty-five years old worked for a private company in Carbondale. He worked on electronics. A father of three, a grandfather to five, and married. It was difficult to be away from home. He woke up one morning at the hotel he was staying, and found he could not move and could hardly talk. With the last bit of his strength he got ahold of hotel personnel and they called 911. He was transported to Valley View Hospital, where he was told he had a stroke on the left side.
Preparation: I was given special instructions by from his nurse, to be very careful with the resident. Resident was very emotional with the condition he was in. I wanted to get to work on time, but this red light was making it to where I wouldn’t be on time. Suddenly something interesting happened. There was a kid in the car besides me and without even knowing me the kid started waving and smiling at me. If it wasn’t for that red light I wouldn’t have the opportunity for someone so little to make my day. That child changed my day, so you see sometimes it’s not bad to stop or take a break from work. You see things that you didn’t take the time to admire. So, I ask you what does a red light mean to you?
J-5 – You know that red light brings a lot of meaning to my life. I’m so busy looking at the negative that I don’t focus on the good. I have a chance at life, an opportunity to tell my wife how much I love her, my kids how much they mean to me and my family who they are in my life. It’s been a long time since I have showed them how much they mean to me. Also, I have focused so much on work that I have neglected my family.
