Personal Narrative-It's Time To Fall Play

As a star in my drama club in China, I intuitively signed up for the fall play when I became an exchange student at Seymour High School. Besides my accent, everything went smoothly and the students and parents all had a great amount of fun. After the performance, our instructor Mrs. Carter hugged me and said that I had done a good job. Someone even took special care to post my photo on the Facebook page of the school.

Imagining it would be another cakewalk, I did not hesitate to apply for the one act play, The Insanity of Mary Girard; as soon as I heard the news. However, this time Mrs. Carter hesitated for quite a while before she agreed to allow me to join. Indeed, things were different this time. We practiced at least two times per week instead of one, as we did for the fall play. The audition was harsh, and experienced seniors who were not interested in the fall play showed up to compete for roles in one act play. If one of the actors got stuck at a particular line, there were always four others who would love to give it a go. As I said the lines and tried to blend some emotions in, I always felt something was not right; but I could not figure it out. Apparently, Mrs. Carter felt the same way. She asked others to try long and interesting lines first, and I ended up getting the leftovers.
