More Than Just a Grandpa When deciding who I was going to use for my life changing person I had somewhat of a hard time, because I wanted refrain from using the norm and really think who has made me the person I am today. I thought about my topic for a while, I’ve changed it about two times and then I started to pray and asked God to allow the Holy Spirit to speak through me as I picked who I wanted to write about. The Holy Spirit helped me to discern that the person for this was my grandpa, Jerry Gould. My grandpa has went through a lot in his lifetime but it is what makes him, him today. He loves his sweet just as much as anyone else does, but being the kind of diabetic he is he had to have a strong support system behind him, which is my grandma, his children, and his grandchildren at times. As youngins all of us grandchildren would check his pockets to see if he was hiding any candy and if he was we would report him to our grandma and ask if we could have the candy instead. Now you may be thinking “that is really mean and this story is going nowhere” but by busting my grandpa and reporting back to my grandma it made it a way that we grandchildren could play around with him but still keep a check on him and his sugar intake. There was and still is many of times that he wouldn’t have the candy on him, but instead it would be hidden in various places around the house like in the drawers of his desk in his bedroom, in the armrest in the car, or in the bread box behind all the bread. He had many of hiding spots but that didn’t stop us from finding them. Sometimes we would find the candy in the most strangest places and automatically just start laughing and say “this has grandpa written all over it”, and instead of telling grandma we would just eat it so that when he went back to go find it, it would be gone and he would give himself up because he would ask who eat his candy he hid. Other times we would feel bad for grandpa so we would either sneak his some treats while my grandma wasn’t paying attention or we would just ask her if he could save it for
