Moving to a New Place
“Mom, but I don’t want to move!” I whined as I packed my bags. “Stop whining and pack your stuff”, my mom yelled from another room. Our family decided to move to Michigan, to be closer to my dad’s workplace.
“What about all of my friends?”I kept whining as I violently threw my clothes in the overflowing suitcase, “What about my opinion on the move?”
My mom suddenly came into my room with a furious look and said, “We can’t do anything about it. Your dad needs to move in order to be closer to his workplace.”
For a few months my dad travelled from Dublin, Ohio to Detroit, Michigan to get to his work. Since it is really far away, my dad visited us once a week.
“You’re really selfish,” my mom scolded me, “What about your father?”

My mom, then, said to keep packing and left the room. I slowly start to pack again and reflect on what I did. Thinking about it again, I thought that I was being selfish.
It slowly became night. I asked my sister, “Are you okay with moving?” She replied that we can’t do anything about it, and went to sleep. I can't believe how my younger sister is able to cope with the move, I thought.
Early in the morning at five, our mom woke us up, to carry the boxes outside. As I pick up the last box, I look back at my room and the memories I had in that room flooded to me. I remembered the times when I cried and laughed in this room. Before we left for Michigan, we visited one of my really close best friend’s house. My friend and I promised each other we would call every single day. I tried to stay at my friend’s house as long as I could before going to Michigan.
