Personal Narrative: Moving To Florida

In August of 2013, my dad moved to Florida. For the longest time, he kept me in the dark about the issues he had with his money. He still has never told me directly that he was in debt; the only reason I know is because I overheard my sister talking to her boyfriend about it. He moved to Florida to manage a warehouse for his nephew’s beauty company, JacoSpa. He was offered this job multiple times, but he could not bear the thought of leaving his family in a state across the country. However, his current place of employment at the time was not successful, for it is half of the reason that he was in debt. My mom had just bought a new car after she had purchased a new one six months earlier that was in great condition; it was as if she was trying to send thousands of dollars down the drain. My sister was angry that she would waste so much money, yet she would not give her money to her husband when he needed it most. When I first found out, I was stunned. Being the emotional, teenage girl who is always at opposite ends with her mom, I felt betrayed in a bizarre sense. However, I am not an outwardly emotional person, so no one truly knew how I was feeling. I was essentially blaming her for our family being divided. Luckily, over late nights I spent dwelling about this, I realized that my mother’s money was not a permanent fix, and it would have lasted very long. I grew to realize that this was the best situation our family could be in economically, yet not emotionally. I do not believe I ever genuinely thought it was her fault that our family was in this situation, I just wanted a real reason for what was happening, and to this day, I still do not have a definite
