This is the first year doing intersession at CCMS. intersson is an break from the work, but if you are struggling in a subject then you will be in enrichment. If you are excelling in all of your subjects, then you will be in acceleration. I think it is a great idea and I think it will help in the long run.
Last year, my Osteopathic application was made in haste and was submitted as a back up plan to failing Allopathic applications. As a part of completing the primary application and also preparing for Osteopathic interviews, I discovered that the Osteopathic philosophy appeared to be a better fit for me. Shadowing an Osteopathic physician as well as an Allopathic physician has solidified this observation. Last year’s failed attempt to gain entry to medical school has been soul crushing and has forced me to consider other career paths. During this period, I have examined many options.
I visited two classrooms and observed global lessons. Each experience was different but offered me incredible insight. Both classrooms were learning about Christopher Columbus's voyage due to the close proximity to Columbus day. The two teachers used different approaches to teach their topics and had different classroom management styles. Both teachers were effective and had their class engaged for the duration of the lesson.
My impression of the Nursing Resource Center is that it is an awesome place for students to learn during clinical. The task trainers and the high- fidelity simulations provides students the opportunity to practice cognitive dynamics of real scenarios. This gives the students an opportunity to make mistakes and better themselves. As a student, the resources available to me within the lab throughout the rest of my nursing education will be very beneficial. Resources such as the faculty, educators, and the simulation models will help students enhance care for future patients, learn how to maneuver during simulates scenarios, and receive the maximum help possible.
IHI Certificates and FEMA Certificate- Current and Future Practices The IHI and FEMA Disaster Management certificates I completed was, shared decision making, quality in health care and introduction to the incident command system for healthcare/hospitals. All of these topics are very relevant to my current and future nursing practice. Shared decision-making and quality in health care are fundamental components to a nurse daily practice.
Entering my junior year of high school, I felt compelled to start a Bible study at my school. I enlisted some of my friends, and we began building the foundation of, Alive. We were aware that we would face animosity from peers, but we wouldn’t let it stop us. Unfortunately, administration was worried that we would spark an uprising of groups who wanting the opposite of what we were about. The red tape of separation of church and state was brought to our attention, even though we were not doing anything wrong.
"The Starter" annouced that it was a two command start. This meant, he waas going to say, "Ready?" adn then fire the gun. Quicker than I expected, he assumed we were all ready and did his two command start. We were off.
My Brush with Technosis! 1) I was surprised to find out the amount of technology that I use with a given 24 hour period because I could not believe I was being exposed to technology 80% of my a day. Little did I know that my phone is 65% of that 80%. I rely on my smartphone because it helps me with everything I need to do and it saves me time the bad part of it is that I become more and more lazy because I went from using a pencil and paper for taking notes to using my cell phone to take notes. I rely on my cell phone because the notes I took could come in handy when I am on the subway because I can review the notes and study them on the bus ride home rather than pull out my book and study while everybody is staring. I would consider giving up my cell phone
I want people to remember me as a very supportive person. Like a therapist. And I think a couple people will remember me that way because I have been very supportive and helpful to those who have needed me.
I have a wealth of experience and knowledge that make me a highly qualified candidate. I have worked for over twenty years as a speech therapy assistant, and began working in the schools a few years ago. Since working in the schools, I decided that I want to become a teacher. I have become recently certified through ABCTE for Elementary Education and Special Education, and I am waiting to receive my Idaho license.
What did you do this week to help with your understanding of course material? During clinical this week I first went to Ware Shoals Primary School. There we continued to help with hearing screenings. This allowed us to learn how to communicate with small children as well and older children. Many of the younger children had a more difficult time understanding the process of the hearing screening and what was needed of them.
My teacher and or mentor is no other than my mom, Domtila Medrano. She is 34 year old. she is about 5’3 ft. tall but she looks like she in her mid 20’s. She has soft light skin.
Immersion lectures, case studies, and discussion gave me further insight on what to expect and set objectives and goals accordingly. My clinical objectives and goals for the first week of clinical came as a result of my preparation from previous classes,
I did most of my observation in a sixth through eighth grade classroom, however I did get some experience in a third grade classroom and a second grade classroom. I think that one of the concepts that I observed the most was that there are many different ways and curriculums to teach literacy. I saw an example of a basal school, an example of daily five, but I did not actually get to see any reader’s workshop, which was disappointing because that was the majority of what we spent time working on in class (and my personal favorite thus far). I did get to see a little bit of a writer’s workshop, it was very brief but was about narratives in a comic strip form. It was interesting to see a genre applied to the writing, similar to what we practiced in class.
My passion for healthcare lies with patient care. I enjoy taking care of patients and their family. I have chosen to become a family nurse practitioner because I can combine nursing and medicine to provide a higher level of care to my patients. As a nurse practitioner will be able to make an impact on my patient’s health through, health promotion, disease prevention, managing acute and chronic conditions and improving patient’s health (Wynne,
