My personal Artifact is a baseball my son and I caught at the Giants game. It is white, round, has red stitches, and is smooth when new, but when we caught it it was beat up and the blue writing on it was smeared. A baseball is small and light in size. It can be thrown at speeds up to 100 MPH, or hit at at speeds higher than 100MPH, so when playing the game or watching you should be paying attention at all times. A baseball is made of a rubber or cork center, wrapped in yarn very tight, covered by white leather with red stitching around the out side, making it a very hard ball.
My uncles hat is like his trade mark. He never goes out in public with out it on. Everyone has a special personality that is unique in its own way, and I have learned over the years that my uncles personally is different. One rainy day my grandmother was sitting in the office and her old house working. I walk into the room and I go to stand next to her.
I am a native American. Anyone born and raised here is. Your statement of 'kicking all Americans out' holds no merit. The European colonizers conquered this land, that later turned the United States. Good or bad, that was how things worked back then when countries and empires set out to explore new land regions, which many were ended up being vanquished.
By: Isaac g. I am a Native American from the the Desert southwest. I wonder If I danced. I hear drums. I see Fire.
Broken Heritage My heritage isn’t peachy or as amazing as everyone else’s, it’s broken and there isn’t enough tape to put it back together. I had a lot of family around when I was younger, but they all eventually disappeared from my life without leaving a trace. My used to be grandma Tonya was my mom’s mom, but she was the worst of our family. She is the reason we don’t talk to half of my mom’s side of the family anymore.
“I wanted to be an independent woman, a woman who could pay for her bills, a woman who could run her own life - and I became that woman. ”- Diane von Furstenberg. Ever since I can remember I have been different than most kids my age. When most kids wanted to be playing with dolls, I wanted to be sitting with the adults conversing and learning.
I am an algebra and geometry tutor in my hometown during the summer. I also volunteer at the Maryland food bank during breaks. In Sewanee, I have participated in civic engagement as part of the African American Alliance and the Hispanic Organization for Latino Awareness. As part of my fraternity "Gamma Sigma Phi," I volunteered in community activities and fundraisers for breast cancer awareness, Sewanee elementary, and Haven for
“Ma 'am, I 'm gonna try my hardest ta keep myself straight. I might’ve fell off the wagon, but I’s got back up, didn 't I?” “Yes, sir, you sure did! “ “And, I’s a keep pickin’ myself up as long as I has y’all ta lean on…” “I talked with Henry last night and we have decided to move up to Cherokee County.
As an Indian-Americans, I grew up with two very different cultures influencing me in to distinct worlds: my home life and my school life. It wasn’t until I became a freshman a few years ago that these two cultures fused into one. I used to think using my mother tongue in public was weird, and that I had to be just like my Caucasian friends to be “cool”. As an early teen, I never acknowledged my own religion, culture, and ethnicity; sometimes I disgraced them. But, as I matured, I realized that my religion, culture, and ethnicity is a gift.
Throughout my life I have come from and created a few identities for myself. Perhaps, the most dominant identities that have been apart of my life are being an athlete and being a family orientated man. In this paper I will write about how my identities have shaped my life. First off I believe my biggest identity is being an athlete.
Life as a Native American sucks. I realized this when I was a little kid. I’ve come to accept that what other people label or describes us as are true. I’m not happy to admit this they are right. My people don’t do anything to prove these people’s claims, or better known as stereotypes, about Native Americans wrong.
The world is filled with people, and like snowflakes, each person is not the same as another. Each person identifies with different aspects of their lives to create their own personal identities. I personally identify with my Italian side of my family to help form who I am today. I have found myself connecting with this side more so than the other parts of my identity. It affects how I live my life by becoming the center to the culture surrounding me.
