LaPlante’s overture is based on Daniel Emmett’s “De Boatmen’s Dance,” a ninetieth century minstrel song that celebrates the boatmen of the Ohio River. Emmett, an Ohio native, is also credited with writing thirty minstrel tunes, including Old Dan Tucker and Dixie. Minstrel songs, the first American-born music genre, signaled the start of a prolonged tradition of African-American music being appropriated for mainstream audiences. Touring minstrel shows, which afforded audiences in various regions of the country exposure to the same music, propelled the development of American popular music in the nineteenth century (Cox, 2011). Although minstrel shows were advertised as authentic versions of African-American music, white northerners composed
On 07/01/17, at 3:21pm, I Deputy Warden N. Christian was dispatched to Kids Kingdom Childcare and Learning Center (970 Oakland Park Ave), on a dog at large, no known owner. I arrived at the location and met with complainant Latanya Cox and victim Jamaal Cox Jr. Ms. Cox stated that she sent her grandson outside to retrieve something from her vehicle. When her grandson returned, he stated that a brown and white pit bull was outside growled and approached him. He was able to get inside before the pit bull caused any harm. Ms. Cox escorted me outside where she point out a white house just behind the childcare center.
I’ve been told to write this report for my sister’s therapist. Just as a reference or my perspective, I guess. I’m Dylan Kinley. My sister is the town-famous Carter Kinley, more notoriously known as “Dogface”. She rarely uses her real name since she’s so used to the name “Dogface”.
My six word memoir is very self explanatory and purely honest. When someone close to you dies, I wouldn’t say it gets easier each year. But in fact it takes time to accept it. We can’t continue to have a mindset that repeats phrases like, “ What if?” or “ If only we could’ve done this…” We can’t go back change the natural occurrences of events. But what we can change is the here
Before 2015 a past too abhorrent and a future too intangible cloaked my mind in a way I was rendered unable to pull outside of. Add the intractable disease I was both genetically and environmentally doomed for ─ depression ─ and I was an oh-so joyful culmination of veritable discrepancies. People knew me adverse of how I knew myself: In the midst of my academic accomplishments, I alone recognized my exasperating position in second place.
It was a goldendoodle. She went to my parents to tell them the great news, and
There is a war going on. No one has said outright but I know there is. Today there were indians and troops rampaging down the streets, brandishing guns and sticks. I was so scared that this little dog was going to get hurt.
The Time I Made a Doghouse I made a doghouse when i was 11.It was burgendy, brown, and black. I made it with the looks of a house. I made it with a 2nd floor and little doggy stairs. The door was something like a saloon door so my dachsund could get in easily. I filled itt with old blankets so she would be warm.

The teachers put me on the fence for the rest of the recess period. When I got back in the classroom I got right in my seat and started to cry a little but not a lot. I held in the tears like the man I was, but it was very hard to do. I thought I was going to burst like a bubble when I got in there I was really surprised I didn't. The rest of the day went pretty smoothly mostly because I didn't tell anyone what

One day my mom told me to take out the dog. I was in a hurry because I was playing NBA 2K15 and wanted to get back into the house and finish the game. As I ran out there everything was going fine and Sugar was going to the bathroom. Once she had finished I decided it would be a good idea to sprint back into the house when the ground was completely covered in ice. As I turned a corner I slipped and instantly started to be in miserable pain.
“Please, oh please can we get a dog,” I begged my mom, but the answer was always a resolute no. Even at the age of five I was determined to have a dog. It did not matter what breed. I simply wanted a companion to keep me company. As a result, I begged everyone in my family from my aunt to my cousin until my grandmother caved and said the golden word, yes.
What started my infatuation with dogs was nothing more than a t-shirt and a walk. At age four, my family took a walk to the park, where I saw a dog. For some reason, I was fascinated with this dog, and even though I had seen a dog before, this one was special. Even though I was in love with each dog I saw I was also terrified of them. Every time I saw on we saw one my eyes would light up and I would run toward it, but then I would change my mind and hide behind my mom’s leg.
Dogs have long been known to make great companions. I have heard from many people who own a dog that a dog is capable of boosting your mood and your health. But is it true? I didn’t know if it was all true until my sister surprised us with two tiny dogs. After having our dogs for several months I noticed it does change our lives in many ways.
