Personal Narrative: My First Year Of High School

I can’t believe we made it through the first quarter of our freshman year of high school! It has been very eventful and surprising, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds. My literature class has been full of new books and writing techniques that will surely help me in the future. Even after the first quarter, I think my writing had definitely improved. I believe my personal narrative is a great example of how I have grown and improved as a writer.
For my personal narrative, I decided to write about a major fall that I had last winter. I wrote small snapshots and paragraphs about this topic last year, but I didn’t get the chance to fully explain myself. I thought this writing piece would be redemption after what I wrote last year. This quarter, I was able to write a very successful personal narrative with descriptive details and an action-packed plot!

You had to pick and choose which parts of the story you wanted to elaborate on. You can’t include way too much detail because then it would get boring, and there would be a lot of unnecessary details. Luckily, I was able to fix the issue and cut down on parts that I didn’t need. I think I did a pretty good job of varying my sentence structure, and I also made sure to include a good balance of dialogue. Overall, I think the grammar and structure of my personal narrative was very effective and successful.
During this first quarter, I have already been able to improve my writing. I think the comments and suggestions from my teacher and classmates really helped me too. Hopefully I can continue to develop my stories and experiment with new writing techniques. Well, I guess the next time I talk to you is at the end of quarter 2.
