Los Besitos open its doors to business a year ago, but it has already become a favorite with locals. The cozy restaurant located on Grant Avenue, specialized in Mexican food and features cuisines from Mexico 's distinctive regions. On my most enjoyable night there, the chef were offering cuisine from several of Mexico 's southern coastal regions. I have beg the owners for the tomato broth recipe, which is the foundation of the tortilla soup, but they say it 's a secret family recipe. The prices are reasonable, but the small dining roo got crowded on weekend nights.
On Monday, October 12th, I went with a group of girls to the Lone Tree Retirement Center for service hours. Upon arriving at the nursing home, I wasn’t sure what task we would be given. One of the nursing home’s staff members named Leon introduced himself to us and gave us our job. Our job was to repaint parking spots in the parking lot. We followed him to his shed and got the supplies.
Ms. Cortes cooked steak, potatoes and rice for dinner. The boys were already dressed for bed when I arrived. I asked Ms. Cortes, if she had given them a bath and she said yes.
Each and every one of them received a hot meal. As Rufus bit into the delicious and spectacular food that tasted as heaven in a bowl his taste buds successfully lit up giving him a joyous feeling. He devoured the delicious food but he did so slowly as he was used to absolutely no food, this was a gift. The overwhelming and pleasant smell of home cooked food aggressively filled Rufus’s nose all night long. This was the first terrific sleep he had ever gotten and he cherished the comfortable, cozy bed he laid upon.

Langston Hughes, a famous poet, was a product of the Harlem Renaissance. One notable piece of literature by Hughes is “Dream Deferred”. However, the discussion of African American culture isn’t limited to the 1920s.
I made my way to room 271 where my grandma has been since 2000, after the war. I walked in and she was sitting there with her hands folded staring out the window. "Grandma?" I had to speak loudly, she was losing her hearing. She turned slowly towards me, "Josie?"
One fine, beautiful Thanksgiving day, a little girl watched as her mother prepared the Thanksgiving turkey. The little girl looked on in curiosity as her mother clipped the wings off of the turkey and then put it in the oven. “Can we not eat the wings?” the little girl asked. “We can,” the mother replied as she began preparing the green bean casserole.
Here we are, out in the middle of nowhere, just flying around. None of us know how we got here or what we are doing, maybe we are trying to fly to heaven, maybe we just want to have some fun. Today is the day I’m going to escape and finally leave this hell hole. My foster parents will be gone for at least twenty more minutes so I have some time. I could hear my heart beat in my ears as I shuffled through my dresser drawers and shoved clothes in a duffle bag. This wouldn’t be the first time I’ve been through this. At my old foster home, every day was a battle.

I managed to grasp the basic concepts of learning in grammar school only to succumb to the same people and pressures in high school. I achieved honor roll status in my freshman year of high school. Regardless, I fell off track puberty, peer pressure, and hardheadedness were my worst enemy. I conclude, moving out of my first foster home where I stayed for 13 years would satisfy my curiosities and mysteries of the street.
“Your grandma has cancer,” These four words were very difficult to swallow at a young age. Dealing with death so young can be very confusing and difficult to cope with. Not only is losing a family member tragic, but losing a family member who you cared so much about can really take a toll on your life. I know it took a toll on me when I lost my grandmother. It still does till this day.

I have always been paranoid. I sleep with three lamps on since I’m deathly afraid of the dark, and have pepper spray with me every day that I walk home from school. I can almost never stay home alone, because of my fear of kidnappers and robbers breaking in. Scary movies are not my thing at all and on halloween I prefer to stay home and pass out candy. My biggest fear of all though, are the popular girls at school.
