In 1924, Louis Armstrong first joined Fletcher Henderson’s band . The way Armstrong played, the style he used, and the iconic music he created would come to be known as the origins of a new type of music called swing. His talent on the trumpet, now common knowledge, would not be fully and widely recognized for almost ten years after he joined Henderson, and the Swing Era as it is known today would truly begin. In 1935, Benny Goodman’s band started with performances on the East Coast and wound its way across the country to California on a national tour, stopping to perform in major cities as it went.
I have always had an interest in the criminal justice field, but my greatest influence was in the eighth grade when a police officer, Michael Owens, gave me my first ever West Virginia Legal Codes book. By giving me this book, he influenced me a lot. He showed me that I could do anything I set my mind and that he believed in me, just by giving me a simple book. Since then, I have committed to my decision of becoming a lawyer and is why I now take Criminal Justice courses at my local technical school.
Before furthering my education here at San Jose State University, I wasn’t sure what my interest and career path I wanted. Although I did always want to go into the law enforcement field, I was never sure exactly what I wanted to include myself in that field. As I began my career here at SJSU I developed an interest in the criminal justice system, more specifically in the field of law. I followed my interest and join clubs such as the Pre-Law Society club here at SJSU. Through this club I got the opportunity to meet and sit in panels on law students including Alan Adkisson.
Cop Detective My shoe has six inch heels and police lights around the top edge. These pumps have lights and a little car bumper on the front of the toes. The back heel also has "POLICE" flashing across it. Almost all of the shoe is black except for a little on the bottom and the sides.
Mock trial has been a journey for me, marking both my experiences and my growth, as well as helping me choose a path for myself. Becoming an accomplished public speaker allows me to feel confident in my ability to succeed, and in my ability to advocate for myself. Mock trial allowed me to push my boundaries and to strive for something that required significant effort, for the first time letting me experience both success and failure in a higher stakes environment outside of academics. I joined mock trial in my sophomore year. The first year created a sense of community and family, and also helped me become more extroverted.
It took them a whole month before i could go before a judge. I was sitting in my cell waiting for the correctional officer to come get me. I was ready to be outside these damn walls. Being here for over a month was killing me, I was missing out on my money and I haven't been getting no pussy. I mean there was some correctional officers that liked fucking inmates, but I didn’t feel right stepping out on Carmen
The career I have chosen has to do with criminal justice. Criminal justice is something that 's always seemed to grab my attention. It 's something I feel I was born to be interested in. I really enjoy helping others in any way so I figured why not pursue a career as a probation officer. Not only will I be helping others, but I will be preventing an offender from repeating the same mistake.
Living during this period, it seemed like the growth of prisons were becoming a new way of life in America. It seemed like more people were being incarcerated for no reason. I know that because, even my own father was incarcerated because he was framed for a crime he didn’t commit. It was hard for me growing up to understand the idea that my father was not going to be in my life until I was about 16 years old. He went to jail when I was about three, so that was a total of 13 years that my father had to miss of my childhood.
Criminal justice is one of the most important fields dealing with society. The program offers a lot to society. There are many careers to choose from the criminal justice fields like policing, probation officer, or U.S. marshals. Criminal justice has several fields that an individual can choose a career from. The three careers I will be talking about today are FBI agents, CIA, and U.S marshals.
Before choosing criminal justice as my major, I wanted to be an art major. The dream was to work as a comic book artist, but I soon realized that it was virtually impossible for me to achieve that dream. Eventually, I became interested in the criminal justice system and all of the aspects that exist in the system, specifically the court aspect. When I told my family that I wanted to be a criminal justice major, my father told me outright that I could not be a police officer or work in corrections, so law school was the only option, but I morphed that expectation into my own with the desire to become a civil rights attorney. Moreover, I have always been interested in politics and political movements that involved civil rights and human rights.
I need to take a walk and clear, my head about this About why I can’t go out without changing my clothes, my shoes, my body posture, my gender identity, my age, my status as a woman. The point being that I can’t do what I want to do with my own body because I am... the wrong sex, the wrong age, the wrong skin, because I was wrong, wrong again to be me. And even tonight suppose it was not here in the city but down on the beach or far into the woods
In a rural town in Upstate New York, I reside with my husband of 19 years together we have a daughter who is 17 and a son who is 13. Olivia will be going to Medialle College in Buffalo, New York this fall, and Louis will play modified football for the Whitesboro Football team. We are looking forward to retirement and leaving the chaotic weather cycle in New York. My goal is to retire as a corrections officer and further my career as a corrections consultant. July 20, 1992 I started my career as Corrections Officer at the County Sheriff 's Office.
I come from a family where many have encountered the criminal justice system; it is one of the many reasons why I desire to attend law school and become an attorney. My dad spent more than a year fighting the criminal system for charges brought against him. His actions led him to serve time in a Federal Facility; however, through his actions, I found my passion for law. Through the many encounters, I saw my dad and family endure the justice system; I knew that law would always be a part of my life and that it was something I was destined to practice. Although a difficult time in my life, I came in contact with lawyers and judges who inspired me with their hard work and dedication.
I’ve interviewed officer Lenon because he was my former employer from town of Chapel Hill youth program. From the interview I’ve learned that he used to be in military police and why he like to work with youth. Yes, I feel that this is possible career option for me because I’ve always decided to become law enforcement since I was a child but it was no longer a dream but a reality that I will have to challenge. I’ve chosen my career as law enforcement in United States because I’d like to experience life as a leader, serve and protect public and enjoy working with other people as a team.
Officer Dan was his name and as his shadow began to make, it’s way down the hallway. I began feeling as if I was about to get the biggest shock of my life. Up until this point, I had never been so scared in my entire life, not knowing what to expect and not having full control of any situation can be very scary. Until this very moment, I hadn’t had time to even think about the endless possibility of if I had killed or seriously injured anyone. Honestly I was just happy that my own life was spared, again I can admit I was a self-centered bastard.
