Want to hear some cool facts about West Virginia and Florida. In Florida its really hot, so there grass is very dead and brown and you can’t really play or walk outside without shoes because their grass is so dead and hard its pointy and hurts your feet. But in West Virginia the grass is green and really soft and lots of people go barefooted. West Virginia and Florida both have great vacation spots and places to see. Although Florida might be bigger and has amazing beaches and awesome amusement parks, West Virginia has lots to offer too.
While I do not like moving, I like the adventure and challenge of the situations. There are a lot of places that I would like to experience, but my home will always remain at our farm here in
Every night, 365 days a year the sun sets in Key West is a part of someone’s night. The light goes out, but the city is still awake. Everywhere in Key West there is either food, art, or someone showing off a cool talent. The hot humid days turn into cool humid nights. The stars and moon come out and dance to the music.
Florida is surrounded by water on three of its four sides, creating a multitude of locations one can visit. When thinking about Florida, the first thoughts that come to mind are Disney World, the beautiful beaches, and the blistering heat. However, there happens to be a spectacular little town located in West Central Florida that many people, including Floridians, probably haven 't heard much about.
Upon arriving to Miami Dade College, you will never imagine all the resources offered to students to succeed during their scholastic years. I’ve been lucky enough to been advised by some of the best staff at their Interamerican campus. From their advisement office to their profoundly knowledgeable professors. As a current student of ENC1102, we were required to attend one section with a tutor at the writing center. I always thought I had sufficient knowledge of the English language and taking time out of my busy schedule to attend a section with a tutor was absurd.
Puerto Rico Puerto Rico is filled with many things to do and see. There are many different people and mostly everyone gets along. There are even palm trees and lagoons! Puerto Rico is located between the Caribbean Sea and the North Atlantic Ocean. It is east of the Dominican Republic and west of the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Growing up in southwest Atlanta, Georgia, I have been surrounded by ‘black success’ instead of just ‘success’ for the duration of my life. The blacks in my area are equally as successful, if not more accomplished than, the non-blacks, but we are always titled separately and put into a captive box. The box we are held in told young girls that they should aspire to be athletes, cosmetologists, or plain unemployed. The same box told young men that they could only be considered “somebody” if they were able to catch a ball well. These are occupations we would ‘best be suited for’; these are occupations that perpetuate the box.
When I Went To Florida I went to Florida after 4th grade in the summer. When we went to Florida, Jaxon my sisters, brother came with us. The night before we left he stayed at my house. When we left the next morning we left at 3:00 A.M. While we were on our way we both had to sit in the very back of the car because my sisters came with us. The ride there was not fun at all.
One night, during the cold winter, I walked along the side walk to reach the local store down the block. As I walked out, before I can realize it, I was dropping down onto the concrete while bullets swiftly passed me. I then began to run back home, but I wanted to keep running. Away from Chicago, away from the west side. Growing up in Chicago, it was easy to assume that there was nothing different beyond the blocks of my streets.
We took only the essentials and traveled to New Orleans, where family was waiting to take us in. I didn't like the idea of leaving the only home I had ever known, but I liked New Orleans all the same. During my teen years, I wrestled with the idea of returning to New York, but I found a certain comfort in NOLA and so I eventually decided to stay.
Time. 10:19 p.m. South Florida. The traffic light rests at red for an eternity, mocking me with its condescending gaze. I quickly turned my head both directions, not a car in sight for what it seemed to be miles.
If I had the choice to go anywhere in this world, it would be to have one more night with my dad in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Baton Rouge is my birthplace and me and my dad shared a bond with that city. It is where he wanted me to be raised, go to college, and raise my family. He dressed me up in the gold and purple ever since I was a toddler. Imprinted the plays of the tigers and their route running so I could watch the games with him and fully understand.
The city is known for its culture, creativity, great food, and our different music. New Orleans has always been home for me until, the unthinkable happened. No, our city isn’t always filled with tons of fun. We have suffered a dramatic change over a decade ago. Although it was so long ago, our city still isn’t the same as it was before.
If I could be anywhere right now I would choose to be on the beach in Florida. I would be in Fort Myers Beach, Florida because that is my favorite place to visit in Florida. When I visit Florida I enjoy laying around the pool and going to the beach. Florida is my ideal place for relaxation, it clears my head. I always have a hard time saying goodbye to Florida because I always have such a great time when I visit.
Coming to Miami I can still remember that gloomy sky on October 21st 2001. It seemed like a normal day to me, yet that day would change my life forever. I remember my mother rushing around the house trying to gather my brother’s clothes while I just sat on the floor observing so much commotion around me. For an 8 year old, I was a very hipper child. I ran around the house, climbed trees, sat on the roof top which was 3 floors high.
