The Appalachian South was used for its resources. Very few people lived there, therefore it was difficult to maintain, or as the book states, “...little to reinvest in its physical or human resources.” Also the textbook mentioned the working conditions. For example: employees viewed as cheap labor, requirements to buy from company stores, and low life expectancy rates.
This province produces all sorts of grain or corn, the inhabitants likewise breed all sorts of Cattle, in great quantities, which they supply the Merchants of New York and Philadelphia, to carry on their trade, to all the American Islands; but were they a distinct Government, (having very good barbours) merchants would be encouraged to settle amongst them, and they might become a considerable trading people; whereas, at present, they have few or no ships, but coasting vessels, and they are supplied from New York ,and Philadelphia with English Manufacturers having none of their own. New Jersey has large areas of farmland. The settlers of the New Jersey colony made a living by hunting, fishing and farming. Ashes from
Virginia Plan was a proposal for a strong national government with a bicameral legislature and a President chosen by the national legislature. The New Jersey Plan was a proposal for a unicameral legislature with equal representation for each state and a President chosen by Congress. The Great Compromise, also known as the Connecticut Plan, was a compromise between the Virginia and New Jersey Plans that established a bicameral legislature with representation based on population in the House of Representatives and equal representation in the Senate, and a President elected through an electoral college. The pros of the Virginia Plan included the creation of a strong national government and representation based on population.
"The Virginia Plan" (May 1787), authored by James Madison and Edmund Randolph, contained several proposals that represented objections for some individuals who ultimately refused to sign the Constitution. These objections centered around concerns over the proposed structure of government and the balance of power between the states and the central government. One proposal in the Virginia Plan that raised objections was the establishment of a bicameral legislature with representation based on population. This provision would have given larger states, with higher populations, more influence and power in the legislative branch. Smaller states, fearing their interests would be overshadowed by larger states, objected to this representation model,
On May 6th, 1861 , Arkansas made one of the most idiotic choices it has ever made, it succeeded from the union. When the original vote took place , five delegates voted to not join the confederacy , but when asked to retake the vote, all but one had suddenly changed their mind. How would they so easily change their minds , probably because something else other than a convincing argument had been involved. All but one man said we should secede, so Arkansas did what the majority voted, but just because there is a majority, doesn’t make it right. Arkansas was in a extremely tight spot during the decision and that definitely impacted the final choice.
New Jersey asserts its claim that PASPA is unconstitutional and that it violates the 10th amendment, anti-commandeering doctrine. New Jersey lead attorney, Theodore Olson, asserts that if a ban was to be placed, it proves that the federal law is attempting to overthrow the powers of the state and to limit the power of New Jersey is unconstitutional. Additionally, another argument states that, PASPA as an act is telling states what to do and thus it violates the constitution. On the contrary, opposing side argued that States are the act is comprehensive and states are bound to obey the law that the state does not want and PASPA requires the states to act accordingly. In addition, it is viewed for some of the Justices of the supreme court that

Gaining Texas is worth the risk of war: The annexation of Texas is worth the risk of war with Mexico. For many years Mexico has been seizing American vessels illegally and confiscating our cargoes to meet Mexico’s needs. Mexico for many years has performed numerous lawless acts upon people and property of United States citizens. The many years of aggravated and unredressed wrongs from Mexico that the United States has endured has violated solemn treaty stipulations and of every principle of justice recognized by civilized nations.
For me, the South was so different from the laid-back pace of Honolulu but, in some ways, they had a lot in common. Savannah, GA has beaches and islands scattered near it 's coastline. Hawaii and Georgia each are obsessed with their regional fruits. Both places are filled with military servicemen and their families. Needless to say, I don 't feel like I truly have a "hometown" but, instead, I can make any town my home.
While the Southern Colonies were known for having numerous plantations, they had few towns and cities. Plantation owners wanted to use as much land as possible for growing cash crops and were not interested in building towns. However, by the mid 1700s, settlements along the Atlantic coast grew into large towns. These large towns all had the same thing in common--good harbors for trade. Port cities became popular when both buyers and sellers needed a place to exchange goods.
When I was younger, I always thought of Florida as a place way better than Maryland, with a

New England and Chesapeake Settlements Some may think that both the New England and Chesapeake regions were alike, since they were settled by the English. However, they would be wrong as the two regions settled here with different motives. The Jamestown colony was led by John Smith, while the Mass Bay colony was led by John Cotton and John Winthrop.
