My mother had always been the person I idolized and dreamed of becoming. Although she is not famous or well-known, she showed me what courage and bravery is. As an immigrant from China that did not know a single thing about America, my mother came to this foreign place. She could not utter even a few phrases in English, but she set on this journey. Although it was tough to adjust to this new environment, my mother worked hard to get a job and work for my family. She showed me that as long as you are not afraid you are able to do it. I believe Syracuse University can help me in becoming someone as courageous and brave as my mother by providing me with opportunities and programs that are outside of my comfort zone.
