Arizona’s a Desert, Yo Me: “Hey, did I ever articulate how I was incriminated for shoplifting? Therapist Dan: “The aforementioned is not in my transcriptions. What’s the significance?” Me: “The situation kicked off my anxiety of constabularies for starters.”
I’ve completed my move to Houston. I traded in my Maryland license for a Texas one. With that said, I’ve found a new church home. I joined Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church on January 13th. The church is very similar to STCF.
Before her family moved from Virginia to Florida, they moved around in Virginia, a lot. In a span of five years, Ashleigh attended five different schools. The ability to adapt to new surroundings without much trouble is a very important skill to have and will help Ashleigh be successful in all of her life. The same skill that made her transition from high school to college an easy transition will also make her transition from college to the workforce an easy one. Ashleigh will be successful for the rest of her life because since such a young age, she has understood why people struggle in the hard situations they find themselves in.
Since we could only have the moving truck for a couple of days, we put all of our items in my aunt’s spare room. Luckily, her house was big enough for four of us plus her own family. As the new school year began to start, my dad thought it was a good idea to enroll me into next year to secure my spot for kindergarten. Then we were told we were told Arizona’s school policy only allowed six year olds into kindergarten.
The fact that I had to leave my best friends was hard, but the people I have met in Idaho and the experiences I have had since moving have made up for the difficult transition.
After we moved to Colorado I became a wild child some might say, and once I graduated from High School and moved away from home I was on a path of destruction. Throughout this entire time, my parents were supportive and we had a good relationship. My sister and I had a good relationship but she was married by this time and moved to Colorado a couple years later. Although, I never was in a committed relationship I would date and had a few girlfriends throughout this time.
Hello my name is Johanth, I was born in San luis Rio Colorado, Sonora. At the age of 6 I was enough fortunate to move to San Luis, Arizona. Since a young age I’ve been very successful in mathematics. I’ve gone to cty at Seattle University and Roger Williams University. Also, I am a car enthusiast I love and enjoy learning and knowing specs about new cars, all types, from sedans to hypercars.
My home state is Texas, and a problem Texas faces is an overall mindset of systemic racism, sexism, and xenophobia. Texas is a very conservative state, thus many of the policies passed by our legislation are written at the expense of women and minorities. Although I might sound highly critical of our state government, I do not believe that these negative mindsets are deliberate attempts to put others down, I feel that it is simply an ignorance to the issues women and minorities face, and a lack of empathy. Ignorance is easily countered by thorough education. The easiest way to solve this is for us constituents of these politicians, to bring the issues that affect us to the forefront.
Arriving at the age of 24 and 26, they knew no one but each other, and barely spoke english. Traveling cross-country looking for work, it took them ten years before settling down in California. They faced adversity in order to succeed, and they wanted to convey that spirit of growth under adversity to me. I realized that like my parents, in order to make the most of my stay, I needed to adapt to my environment. Over the span of my stay, I would come to call this my home.
When I was 14 I had to move to San Clemente, California. I had already recently moved temporarily to Texas while a house was made ready for us on the military base. “The house is ready!” my mother had said excitedly, after being on the phone for a few minutes. “It’s time to go back?”
My husband Zach and I have been married 4 ½ years, but have known each other since we were 16 years old. I have an 11 year old stepson, Kaden, who lives with his mom and stepdad in Texas, but he comes to spend time with us as often as possible. We have two dogs and two cats, so our home is full of love and fur!!! In our free time, we love to spend as much time as possible outdoors camping, travelling and mostly just relaxing.
While some changes were welcomed, others were difficult to accept. My reality appears to be changing quickly, and with each new change I discover, I am reminded of the home I left behind. Eventually with time, I grew to accept the city around me and learn to appreciate and embrace my new home. California is known for its diversity, but the city I grew up in was mostly dominated by Asians and Hispanics, with Whites and African Americans being the minority. This level of cultural homogeneity was something in which I had grown accustomed to.
The first eight years of my life, I spent in India where I was born. Growing up I was constantly reminded by my parents that I needed to make them proud by getting a good job and living a good lifestyle. They told me this because they did not want to see me live a hard life like they did. When I was nine years old, I moved from India to the United States of America. The reason why I moved to America was not because I was living a bad life in India, it was so that I could have a better education and more opportunities in life.
My first time going to Arizona was to see my grandma. In Arizona we did a lot of things. Going to Arizona was the worst because it took a long time and it was a long drive. When we got to my grandmas house we were tired so we unpacked and went to sleep.
Moving is a burden that has profoundly altered my outlook on things. Going back a few years, I moved to the United States, which meant I’d have to be placed in a new school. This transition was truly and utterly difficult for me, because it happened in the middle of the school year and I was not ready for what was about to be thrown my way. I was scared out of my mind, it felt as if the walls were crumbling down on me and I had no escape route.
