This past year our very own Caleb Andrews was on the board for CASL as a Southern Director as well and worked all year long along the side of a number students from all across Southern California who were also Southern Directors. We are writing in connection with Brannon and Shana Hogan’s move to your congregation. Brother and Sister Hogan lived in our area for a number of years and attended meetings briefly when they first arrived. When asked why they stopped Brannon mentioned in his previous congregation he was given too much responsibility too soon. This was made worse by his tendency to be a perfectionist which caused him emotional stress. He was afraid by returning to meetings he would find himself back in the same situation.

Imagine being the daughter of a pastor, who has to live up to her family 's expectations, how would you feel? While being an example in church, yet living in another city attending a four year university in her graduating year, this leader is as strong as they come. Leah Shoff is a 22 year old who has put her entire life effort forth for God. Even though she has attempted to live part of her life without God, she was never successful in doing so. Constantly under a lot of stress, Ms. Shoff is currently attending Vanguard University as a Senior with a major in business, and she still keeps in great contact with her family; especially her family who is runs Palmdale Lighthouse Assembly of God.

Our Journey As I look back upon our journey with the Knee to Knee Couples Club, I feel an overwhelming sense of pride, fulfillment and accomplishment that God gave me the vision and the inspiration to begin the club and what a journey it has been! As the solo officer of The Family Life Department of The Bethany SDA Church in 2003, I felt it necessary and important that the church be more proactive to strengthen families and improve the quality of their relationships. The community I grew up in central Texas celebrated my heritage, honored differences in culture, and fostered personal growth and self-discovery. My parents, with the strong work ethic they developed on their family’s farms in Ghana, encouraged my brother and me to work hard and find ways to use our skills to be of service to others, which wasn’t hard to do growing up in Austin with its many avenues to become involved and take care of the community, whether it was helping to direct families through the Trail of Lights at Zilker Park during the winter or raise money for educational programs for underprivileged kids in the area through working the concession stands at the University of Texas at Austin. Accomplishments as a Pastor On June 22, 2002 I was unanimously voted to be the pastor of the New Macedonia M.B. Church in Tampa, Florida. I was installed as Pastor in October of the same year. With a inspirational outlook to continue in the will of God, I continued in the legacy that was left by my the grandfather, Rev Odell Glover (deceased), who had served as pastor for almost 27 years. I have lived in East Oakland my whole life. To the majority of people, the mention of East Oakland evokes thoughts of violence, shootings, and gangs. I was one of the people who believed in these stereotypes, and for a particularly long time. I was one of the people who saw Oakland as a wasteland, a place with nothing to offer me, and a place I had nothing to offer to.
Growing up in Texas What is it like growing up in Texas? I have people always state that their home state is the best place to grow up, but I can honestly say where I grew up was the best. We had some much to do and so much to see.
When I was 14 I had to move to San Clemente, California. I had already recently moved temporarily to Texas while a house was made ready for us on the military base. “The house is ready!” my mother had said excitedly, after being on the phone for a few minutes. “It’s time to go back?”
The first eight years of my life, I spent in India where I was born. Growing up I was constantly reminded by my parents that I needed to make them proud by getting a good job and living a good lifestyle. They told me this because they did not want to see me live a hard life like they did. When I was nine years old, I moved from India to the United States of America. The reason why I moved to America was not because I was living a bad life in India, it was so that I could have a better education and more opportunities in life.
