Last weekend I went to visit my one of my friends, who recently got a teaching job, in Rome, Georgia. Since there was nothing to do while in the small town I decided to head over to the museum to waste sometime and have something for my cultural event paper. I went on a tour and informational guide about Rome. The museum was called the Rome Area History Museum. The tour was sponsored by the Rome chamber of commerce and the tour lasted for 30-40 minutes.
In my opinion, the supplemental videos provided in these chapters were very interesting. First, there is the Erie Canal Documentary. I enjoyed learning about the construction of the Erie Canal and its influence back then. What surprised me the most was the fact that the canal engineers were not actually trained as engineers, but they still were up to the task of designing and building the canal, very impressive of them!
Today is the day for the most fascinating, out of this world adventure, at Dollywood! Our class had an option of choosing our yearly class trip destination, and of course it was Dollywood! Dollywood is a place full of adventure, wonder, and magic! There have been numerous amounts of important events throughout American history, from settlements to famous wars, many of them are worth traveling back in time and viewing in person for. If I were given an opportunity to time travel and witness one of these events in person, I would choose to visit the origins of the new world, in Jamestown, Virginia. It began on May 14, 1607, when roughly 100 men who had left England landed on a narrow peninsula in the James River, where they would live out their lives in Jamestown. The settlement had a variety of attractions which pulls me into wanting to time travel to see it, one including watching the settlements first leader, Captain John Smith in action. Another thing that catches my attention is the way that Jamestown was built and its location.

Centuries before humanity was able to tell stories through motion picture or photography, artists wished to tell a story visually. This is especially true within the Pre-Renaissance Era of the Middle Ages. Artists would take inspiration from written manuscripts and create art based on their story or message to the audience. For example, illuminated manuscripts, in particular, were literal manuscripts that artists embellished with beautiful decorum or illustrations to heighten the delivery of the storyline. This practice of storytelling carried on into the Early Renaissance and was revolutionized by Giotto di Bondone (1267-1337).
Caleb Trask is the embodiment of human sin. Playing the role of Cain, from the biblical story of Cain and Abel, Caleb struggles with jealousy and its repercussions. In John Steinbeck’s literary work, East of Eden, the characters embody traits at biblical proportions. Despite his many and apparent flaws, Caleb Trask is the most admirable character in the novel. Cal is the most admirable character because he choses to overcome his greed, jealousness and mean spirit.
