Till somebody came and motivated me the way no one else did. My junior year I wanted to join a sport, I attended practice everyday and tried best everyday. Till my first game where my coach pulled me over and told me I wasn’t able to play anymore because the fact that my GPA was a 1.5, This made me rethink my whole freshman and sophomore and realized how dumb I was. A month or two pass by these people start realizing i'm switching up on them but at this point I really don't care about anything about my self and school like I should have a long time
I was so close to completing school when my father passed away, I was torn. I was lost in a place that I didn’t want to do anything after that. I dropped out of college, I stopped doing everything
I want to be a veterinary practitioner when I’m an adult but in order to continue following that dream I can 't worry or obsess about the future with or without that dream. If I worry or obsess about the future with or without that dream I’ll distract myself from the goals I need to achieve to
Once I was a little dog name to me. He was a creepy little dog he kinda looks like a monkey. His favorite thing to do was eat smelly socks. Some days he would look at his owner and wonder if he would be able to feed him more smelly socks then one day a monkey came upon Timmy then Tammy chased him down the road. His owner was so upset that the monkey ran up the tree and Timmy filed him.
Mid-junior year the level of going to college dropped at an all time low. I believe that giving up was the easiest thing in the world. My grades where low, and It was too late to turn back and fix them. By the time March arrived, everyone was cramming in all the knowledge for their AP test. From getting tutors to pulling all nighters to learn a month 's worth of materials.
In high school, I would often be asked what I planned on studying in college, and the fact that I simply did not know terrified me. I was afraid that I would never find a passion. However, in my junior year of high school I began assisting the developmentally disabled kids in my school. This led to an employment at a local non-profit organization that specializes in activities for the developmentally disabled in my hometown.
Freshman year, what an awkward time in my life coming out of middle school with my poor grades I promised myself and my parents I was going to succeed while in high school. Did I though? My grades for sure improved but I still was not putting in as much effort as I should have been. I struggled to be able to communicate with all these new faces and in a completely new school but even outside of school struggled to talk to new people.
I began my undergraduate education at Colorado State University in 2004. I declared my major as Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. At this point in my life, I had no clue what I wanted to do for my career and thought this would be the best option and give me the most diversity of career options. Going into my sophomore year, I began a job in the emergency department at the hospital located in the college town. During my first day, I got to see a variety of emergent and non-emergent medical procedures.
I began college as a freshman at Central Michigan University thinking I was going to become an elementary teacher. I knew I wanted to make an impact on peoples lives but after my first week of classes, I remember telling myself becoming a teacher is not how I wanted to do it. I went to my counselor and added a social work course to my schedule. I had finally found courses I enjoyed taking and academically excelled in. Which brings me to where I am now, pursuing my degree in social work.
It was a lovely morning as we woke up getting eager to come help out a kitten sanctuary and bond with actual felines. The experience of meeting each other was riveting and many friends were made. Once the drivers settled, we quickly grouped into separate car seats and all drove together to the Kitten Sanctuary. There was not a better day to start the day than to have meetings with old and new friends afterward get to meet felines and cats being nurtured. At first, we came in a sanctuary-like place and a nice lady greeted us all.
It was the summer of 2010 when I rode my first horse. I was so scared because I have never rode one. I was so scared I was shivering in my boots. I kept thinking “ I’m going to get bucked off oh my gosh!
Dogs have long been known to make great companions. I have heard from many people who own a dog that a dog is capable of boosting your mood and your health. But is it true? I didn’t know if it was all true until my sister surprised us with two tiny dogs. After having our dogs for several months I noticed it does change our lives in many ways.
Being a 16 year old mother in school is difficult. I was born in Saint Albans, Vermont but moved to Burlington, Vermont when I was only six years old and grew up there until 8th grade. 8th grade I moved back to Saint Albans. Moving back to my hometown after seven years was a hard transition. Leaving all of my friends and having to start a new life where everything is completely different gave me a lot of anxiety and pushed me to be a whole different person.
I chose to declare my major in Zoology because of my interest in Animal Science. Growing up, I have always been interested in animals. I grew up with cats, dogs, fish, and my beloved hamster "Hammy." Over the past several years, that interest has turned to love and appreciation for all different animal species and nature in general. I was notified of an internship at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo and vigorously pursued the opportunity.
When asked what they want to be when they grow up, most children say astronaut, doctor, president, or veterinarian. I was one of those kids that replied “a veterinarian” when asked by others. Usually, when one gets older, that career goal changes into something different, but not for me. I did not know it then, but my dream of being a veterinarian would stick with me throughout my life, and influence the choices I make in order to reach that long-term goal. I come from a family that expresses an interminable love for animals.
