One would think a coach would have a semi decent relationship with their players; however that was not the case with Coach Mel Thompson and the Citadel basketball team. Throughout the memoir, My Losing Season by Pat Conroy, it is evident Mel gave everyone on the team, including Pat a difficult time. Mel’s behavior towards the team helped Pat improve himself not only as an athlete, but as a person and writer. “If Pat scores one or two points a game and runs the team well, we can’t ask any more from him this year”, is not something a supportive coach would say about one of their players. Mel Thompson is not exactly the supportive coach on this team.
It was the spring of 7th grade, and a young and naive Jackson Lampley was training to become a Tennessee Future Star. The Tennessee Future Stars is an all star football team for 7th graders, and there is also one for 8th graders. After trying out for the seventh grade team in the 6th grade, and not making it. 13 year old Jackson Lampley was determined to make the 7th grade team. I was so determined like Rocky Balboa in Rocky VI (the best movie of the series), you could 've probably made a pretty epic training montage for me.
Well, It all started in 1982. July 18th, 1982 to be exactly. Born with the father Ricky Savage and mother- Crissy Savage My childhood was something I call PERFECT!
I went to Jay Peak as my second time. I remember about my first time I went there when I was in Middle school. Also it was my first year in United State. I was a quiet student in Middle school so I don’t talk the whole time I was on the bus even when I get there. But yesterday I talked to people who were from different program.
The buzzer going off, the crowd cheering, for the first time in school history, Trinty Clinton Township are state chapions. That team made history, acheiving far more than what any spartan was thought possible, but this team accomplished far more than a state championship. There has been Trinity greats that have made a mark in the Trinity basketball program history. I knew, this being my last year at trinity, that I had had mighty big shoes to fill if I also wanted to make a perminet mark at trinity. "The differance between successful people and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather in a lack of will"- Vince Lambardi.
“This ain't fun. But you watch me, I'll get it done.” This is quote was stated by Jackie Robinson. Jackie Robinson was the first African American Major League Baseball player. He also was the first African American to join the Baseball Hall of Fame.
Life sure has a lot of balls to mess with me. Really man, I’m talking 8 ball, football, and basketball. And just so you know, whoever messes with me always faces repercussions, but this time that promise just might be a little harder to back up. I was born on the loveliest chthonian night that anyone, (or maybe just Stan Lee) could dream up for a superhero origin story. In fact the lights of the rundown hospital my mother birthed me in turned off for a couple of seconds and then came back on.
The time I almost got cut from the basketball team.the first day of tryouts I didn’t come because I didn’t have my physical at the time.but when I got it I was there and lots of people were and only fifteen could qualify. On the first day all we had to do was shoot and show our form. But we did do something a little fun you had to get a partner and perform some moves on him. So the coach said “go” me and my partner which was Robert.
“Unfortunately, Jack, there will not be many opportunities for you this year.” Seconds after being told I had made the varsity baseball team, I did not expect my coach to so bluntly tell me I would be spending more time watching the game than playing it. Our state ranked team had a pitching staff full of Division 1 commitments and future MLB draft picks, and I was being told I did not measure up. The bench became my best friend.
Sunday night, as I watched the Giants fail miserably to cover the spread, I attempted to watch my wager fail in silent miserable fashion. That desire was interrupted around midway through the second quarter. As much as I just wanted to watch the game in peace I couldn't just ignore the GroupMe blowing up. "What are these idiots going on about?" I wondered to myself.
My, oh my, there are so many great individuals out there who I would just love to be able to have a ten-minute conversation with. I’m a huge San Antonio Spurs fan, so if I had to pick someone; it would have to be Tim Duncan. To begin with, ever since I was a little kid, I’ve loved watching the Spurs games late at night with my dad. I remember shouting, “Go Timmy Go!” every time he made a basket.
Change means to the act or instance of making or becoming different. In life people make a lot of changes. For example in america racist people were around white people didn't like black people and black people didn't like white people but now everything has changed for the better. Now they get along.
A few hours later all of my stuff was tucked into my room, Mom and Sydney both started crying when they got ready to leave. Dad even had tears in his eyes, “I promise all of you, I’ll take good care of her. No Debbie downers allowed!” Sarah hugged mom and Sydney then Dad and Cade.
Have you ever enjoyed a sport so much you do it every day? I am a baseball player who has played for eleven years of my life. I have been playing baseball for so long, that now it is an everyday sport. Many decent teams have given me opportunities to play for them. As a result, I have had many different coaches.
The book The Hobbit tells the story of an anxious little hobbit, who, throughout the story, progresses to be a hero and a leader who shows bravery and strength and earns the respect of his comrades. There are two prominent themes in this story, one being that bravery comes in all shapes and sizes, and two is that it’s good to try new things. Bilbo’s confidence and strength stem at the beginning of the story in his hobbit hole, and to the end when he and the dwarves defeat the mighty dragon Smaug. When Bilbo first shows signs of interest in joining the dwarves on their adventure, his whole world opens up. When Bilbo outsmarts Gollum, he is proud and strong.
