Sophia, walking with the congregation, clad in black, sorrow clinging to them like fog, no laughter or happiness to break it. Saying a speech, not really registering the words. She spoke. Just reading them of the sheet on the podium in front of her. Whaling cries of pain are heard from Sophia’s aunt, although she was the loudest, others were whispering, comforting people and sniffing into tissues trying to dab away the runny mascara and clam swollen puffy eyes. The only quiet person in the room was Sophia’s mum. Putting on her fur coat she pulled it close and put her hands in the pockets. Feeling a piece of paper that had been neatly folded, she took it out and opened it. Tears sprung to her eyes. It was a photo of Sophia and her mother at her father’s 40th birthday party. It was overwhelming for her, bringing back so many memories, her dads silly dancing, her mum totally out of her head and her aunt chatting up every man in the room. Standing up she caught a glimpse of someone in the distance sitting on the bench. She could feel his intense gaze, warming her cheeks. She quickly turned away. Do I know him? Edward. Edward, is that his name? No don’t be stupid, you’re defiantly going crazy Sophia. She almost felt as if she has known him her entire life.
