“Thanksgiving Break” a term every middle school student remembers. A time to spend with your family, eat food and the best part, not being in school. It was a beautiful autumn day and the ground glowed with the crisp fall leaves. The leaves seemed to dance around as the cool mid- autumn air blew through them. It was the day before thanksgiving and us grandkids were at grandma's house for a fun family day. Outside you could hear screams of laughter as us kids danced around in the multi colored rain.Orange, yellow, and red dances around us as the leaves were slowly plucked from their tree. I looked in the mirror and realized how terrible i looked. I had gotten one hundred seventy five to two hundred stitches in my face. My face was swollen to the point that I could barely open my mouth to eat my dinner. They also lectured me about keeping my stitches moist by putting oil on them. The hospital decided to keep me overnight, to track how I was recovering from the surgery. The next day was Thanksgiving and I woke up in a hospital bed. They gave me breakfast, which was flavorless thanksgiving food. Then eventually sent me on my way to my warm cozy house. That day we went to my family's house for thanksgiving dinner. When we arrived the embarrassment became the only thing I could think about. Everybody looked at me with pity, because my face looked terrible. The most heartbreaking moment was the fact that my cousin, and closest friend at the moment couldn't look at me without crying. As the day went on I began to feel more welcome and feel at home with my family. Thanksgiving turned into the saddest thanksgiving of all, but spending it with my family made it a better experience for my parents and
