Determination. I had to put this word first in this essay because its the only word that has a big meaning to me and has my whole life. Being determined has done a lot for me in the long run. It had kept my motivations up and going, also has led my life to where it is now. Determination wasn't just planted into my mindset one day. No, obstacles in my life that had the opportunity to make me or break me had helped me get a good grip on the motive. I knew that I wanted better and needed more in my life. I have gained important leadership skills because at a very young age I had to become a mom. A mom to my own siblings, my parents had troubles with jobs and alcholism. In a big city alone I had to learn on my own how to keep my siblings behaved and nutured. My leadership skills kept expanding through out elementary. As I wasn't afraid to speak my mind and do actions upon myself. When I would get done with an assignment, I would chose another classmate I seen struggling and help them comprehend to their understanding. When we were finished I would encourage them to help another classmate struggling. My freshmen year I was elected Student Council class president. Also my freshmen year I was one of the first ninth graders to make the girls varsity basketball team. Everyday at practice I would run and practice my hardest. I would help encourage my classmen to do the same and this pointer allowed two other freshmen make the team. My sophmore year I transferred to a different school and this caused me to start over on another basketball team. I made the varsity squad as a starter because I would help motivate and teach the other girls how to do drills and basic fundamentals. My coaches assigned me as a team
