A memorial day for me was one Friday night at a dance at Flandreau Indian Boarding School in South Dakota. I went to this Boarding School, not knowing what to expect. My father had gone to this same Boarding School many years before I had. He graduated from there and I was hoping to do the same. Me and my very good friend of mine, we had the crazy idea to go to the school together to escape the realities of our home town.
By the time I made my way back to the dining room my mother had left. Maybe she too had grown weary of the game. While I waited for her to return, I craved a taste of the repast. As soon as I place the spoon in my mouth, I realized Marsha, my mother’s personal chef, had neglected to remove the pin bones from the fish. In sheer disgust, I toss my napkin on the table and went to search for my mother.
I begin with a sunset, as in the poem the sunset is a metaphor for death. I have myself waking up and realizing it was dark as though I am realizing I am close to death. I refuse to accept this getting up and turning on the light. The light is turned off several times and I have to fight to keep it on and keep living. When it stays on l look for what is turning it off I am subsequently chased down the stairs by an ambiguous being or force.

Hello Professor Clement after reading over the scenario again I feel that his death could have been caused by an accident because he could have been with some friends who were trespassing on the property and drinking. Therefore, given his age he could have been drunk and fell which may have caused him to hit his head. There is also the fact that he could have had a medical condition which no one knew about which could have caused him to have a sudden heart attack because a heart attack has no age of person. Furthermore, if the victim was not murdered and there was others with him but they were trespassing they would not want to get in trouble for being on someone else’s property without permission plus they could have been drinking and had
The sky is covered in a black blanket with shiny holes in it. It is 4 in the morning. I flop out of bed and waddle outside and into the car. There are two chairs for three people. I have a bed to sleep on while my dad drives and my mom sits on the other chair.
“People keep telling me life goes on, but, to me that’s the saddest part.” I think this person is trying to say they would rather be with the person they lost. It 's kinda like when someone is forced to keep going in they’re sorrow that they wanted to do more before they lost that person a deepening feeling that never stops and never goes away, where there 's always a moment of triumph but its short lived because they tell themselves they can’t move on, so little jimmy sits there in his bed feeling like a sinking pillow that has a permanent indent that he can 't get rid of so he’s forced to deal with it little jimmy feels like he’s forced through life and he just has to “live with it”, and learn to live with it. Imagine living like that do
A Ghostly Spark Introduction (reveal): Native American culture has always been an interest of mine. Since my beginning with the Boy Scouts of America on my path to Eagle Scout, I have come closer to the dense but often forgotten history of the First Nation people of America. Upon joining the Order of the Arrow, the BSA’s honor society centered around Native American virtues and beliefs, I have continued to take it upon myself to learn more about the long forgotten Native history. While I knew about the general struggles the Native Americans faced as “white man” invaded the unharnessed Western frontier, I had not learned about the specific catalyzing incidents that caused such conflict and suffered between these two cultures. While searching through topics like native music and combat, I knew I needed an event that sparked the rift between these two types of people, growing U.S. government and early
Never did I think the people of this town would do this to me, the most beautiful and prestigious house of Jefferson! I used to hear admirations as people walked by me, now it’s nothing but whispers and looks of disgusts as people argue whether or not it’s worth tearing me down; I’ll never let them pull me down! I would rather collapse to the ground before they pay people to come and pull me apart, like some disgusting barn for animals. Surely there is someone that would appreciate my seventies style structure , with cupolas and spires and scrolled balconies, give me a fresh coat of paint and I can be enjoyed by a new family and gain some of my beauty again.
As I boarded the plane to visit the last school on my college trip, I was tired. I had spent a week bouncing from motel to motel with my exhausted parents, and I didn’t think I’d find any more colleges that interested me. I thought that I’d seen it all. But seeing New Orleans on my way to campus revitalized me.
I went to Washington, DC this summer for vacation, there were so many sites and monuments I wanted to see, yet the one thing I thought I wasn't as interested in seeing turned out to be my favorite, Arlington National Cemetery. It was told to me that over four million visitors pay their respects to the fallen now buried at Arlington National Cemetery each year. There are still over 20 funerals a day conducted at the cemetery. As you walk around in the respectful quiet and beauty of Arlington National Cemetery, you can hear the 21 gun salutes just about every 25 minutes for our fallen soldiers being laid to rest among their fellow soldiers as you pay your respects.

After a death or loss of something close, people usually react similarly by going through the five stages of grief. These stages include denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. During a death of my Great Aunt, my family went through the stages of grief. I was close with her when I was younger, but I do not have many memories I remember with her so I did not experience much grief. On the other hand, my Great Uncle went through a lot of grief since she was his older sister.
One of the most evident themes throughout Chronicle of a Death Foretold is failure of authority as well as the apathy of many of the townspeople. This was an existent problem that made many people in Colombia suffer, so Márquez decided to criticise and expose the leadership and their ways of controlling the town. Márquez depicts the mayor as being more interested in the domino games he was playing than in actually trying to stop the twins from committing a senseless and prejudiced crime that Santiago may not have been guilty of. ‘he promised to take care of it at once, but he went to check on a date for dominoes that night’ this quote reinforces the fact that the mayor is not doing his job and puts his leisure before anything else. Márquez is trying to perceive the leaders as careless people who don’t care about their town and only focus on things that will benefit them, like greeting other leaders, accentuating the fact that they are egocentric.
In Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s 1981 novella Chronicle of a Death Foretold, the narrative recounts the events leading up to the eventual murder of bachelor Santiago Nasar, a man accused of taking the virginity of the defrocked bride Angela Vicario despite the lack of evidence to prove the claim, and the reactions of the citizens who knew of the arrangement to sacrifice Nasar for the sake of honor. This highly intricate novella incorporates a range of literary techniques, all of which are for the readers to determine who is really to blame for Santiago Nasar’s death. Marquez uses techniques such as foreshadowing and the structure of narrative, along with themes such as violence, religion, and guilt to address the question of blame. Although Santiago
