Young has long and short-term visions for transportation in Baltimore. In short term, he plans to focus on the inner-connectivity of modes of transportation. Some of the pro’s that he expressed was that he plans on cutting down the wait times and delays to make sure our community can have reliable transportation to and from work, school, and other services. He also plans on investing in bike share programs to support and add green mode of transportation. Mosby wants Baltimore to invest in a world-class subway system that connects the entire city.
After the trolley, Jackson points out that automobiles, along with better roads, and abundant fuel, gave many city dwellers better access to suburban areas. “The automobile made it infinitely easier to commute in directions perpendicular to the trolley tracks.” In short, cities began to “come apart” from the center because of the better transportation automobiles offered. Automobiles freed their owners to travel routes of their own choosing, to come and go wherever they pleased, and for a fraction of the cost of the
In summary, on 09/21/15 at 0418 hours I was patrolling the area of 1600 S. Laramie Ave., at which time I observed a male subject with a youthful appearance walking northbound 16th Street. I made contact with the subject, at which time he identified himself as (Rosas, Alexis DOB 04/21/97). While speaking with Rosas, I detected a strong odor of fresh cannabis emanating from his person. Rosas related he had some cannabis in his sweater pocket. I recovered a silver box containing a green leafy substance from Rosas ' right sweater pocket.
The “hood” is often what downtown, Elizabeth NJ is labeled as. Children like me are doubted as many people seem to believe we will just become another statistic. My background has motivated to strive for success, proving those with agnosticism wrong. Seeing bodies strung out on the corner or laying on the sidewalk is a part of my everyday life. I’m not ashamed of where I come from as it has made me who I am today.
Large cities that promote “green” transportation do not improve the lives of their dwellers. In “The Walkability Dividend” Jeff Speck presents his views of beneficial effects caused by alternative transportation in cities. He argues that cities can benefit better from investments in sidewalks and public transportation rather than building better roads and highways for automobiles. Speck says that suburbs are not beneficial for the economy and decrease the quality of life for individuals. His argument for more compact, integrated cities and smaller freeways is exactly why people are moving to suburbs in what is popularly called “Urban Sprawl.”
My name is Andrew Freeway. I am a slave who escaped from my powerful white owner who did not treat me as a human being. I was treated as a piece of property. I was forced to work days up to 18 hours of hard labor. I was given harsh punishments if I did not work my full potential at all times.
I was following the routine. I reported for work at the La Guardia airport in New York City. I did he standard preflight inspection: "weight and balance figures; the amount of fuel needed to get to Charlotte, North Carolina; the takeoff, climbing, and cruising speeds" My first officer, Jeffery Skiles, was at the controls. We trade off; it was his turn to be in command.
At the beginning of this assignment, I choose inner city culture because I was under the impression that I knew at least a little about it. I live in the suburbs of Chicago, and my parents have often worked in the inner city, and so I have heard many stories. However, completing this project has shown me how little I know about other cultures, and how important it is to research before meeting a client. To begin, I have often been told that violence and poverty in the inner city are partially caused by bad parenting and drugs. While those can be a cause of problems in the inner city, just like they can be anywhere, none of my research identified those aspects as ultimate causes.
The metro rattles, startling a young woman. She twists the fringes of her hijab. ‘Did nan remember to take her medication?’ She twirls the tassels decorating her purse.
I got to school and all of my “friends” crowded around me and told me the plan. We were supposed to meet in the front of the school at the beginning of lunch before anyone gets out. Then we are going to take an Uber to Southland Mall. We are going to stay there until the end of the day and hope that we don 't get caught.
Attention passengers an inbound train towards the loop will be arriving shortly. This short, descriptive, and monotone sentence spoken by an automated program over the loud speaker of Chicago’s orange line platform may be meaningless and insignificant to most. But in fact, this monotone sentence impacted my childhood and made me into the person I am today. Standing on Chicago’s orange line platform in one hundred degrees heat was miserable, but hearing those train doors open with the rush of freezing air conditioning hitting against my face was absolute heaven. My father was very active and loved traveling through Chicago, my brother and I always were forever along for the ride.
Even one parking garage just for college students would be very beneficial. Especially for Point Park students since they are competing for a parking space with people who work in the city, teachers, etc. There are a couple parking garages but they are fair game for anyone to use. Once they are filled up you are going to be looking for awhile which in turn will make you late for a class. The building on 500 Liberty Avenue is for sale for 1,600,000 (LoopNet).
I am so thankful to be writing to you right now. Just a few hours ago, I was not sure I would be alive to retell the horrendous activities that have taken place. As you know, a few months ago, I joined a civil rights organization called the Freedom Riders. We are a nonviolent group of protesters that aim to bring attention to the civil rights movement and gain support. Three days ago, on May 4, we loaded the bus and set out for New Orleans.
MONDAY: Monday was like usual. It started slow with only one child (Gage) then more children started to arrive around 8 to 8:30. I saw the transitions between the children and the parents. Some of the children were sad, crying, or happy when their parents left. I spent most of my day with the children both indoor and outdoor especially with JoJo and Ezequiel.
It was a regular day with me and my friend Lexie. We were just doing tricks on the trampoline when her mom came out and said, “Lexie, start to get ready for the haunted bus ride.” “I will! Hey Mom, can Joey come with us please?”
