If there was any way to turn back time and just re-live the past, I would trade my soul to return to the good old days. Sometimes I wish I could subtract the ten years from my life and go back to being seven. You know, when life wasn’t too hard and gaining knowledge actually seemed interesting. You know why everyone wishes to get back to the past all the time? It’s because we realize the regrets, and errors, and missed opportunities in the present. I wish I could just travel back and tell Jane Gallagher how it killed me when she held back her kings in the back row during checkers. There was a real connection. I mean, does that really work? People in need of desperate help will believe anything that others say, causing them to become more helpless. I’m pretty sure Gatsby wasn’t prepared because of guess what? His remorseful past did not warn him about his impending demise. A sad end indeed. It nearly killed me. Gatsby said it himself as well, you know, about how you can repeat the past. That’s a fine lesson of how the past is always there, just waiting to be repeated by some fool. Trust me, I would love to go back and fix my faults, but I can still do that. Now that I am much older and maturer, I suppose. Listen, I want to move forward, get married, have kids, but something is keeping me back. I wish to grow up and move on, kinda like the ducks during winter time. But at the same time, I want to be like one of those Native American statues at the museum. I feel as if Gatsby and I remain firm in the same shoes. Just dreaming of unrealistic desires and protecting those we love, whether it is a friend or something precious, like innocence. Let me feed you some last piece of advice, and I speak on Gatsby’s behalf as well.
