To make a significant change in the world, countless hours of preparation, of work, and proactive cooperation with others are crucial for success. I partake in few extra-curricular activities, but I have dedicated years of my life to them all. On a regular week, I have to balance French club and National French Honor Society secretary duties, community service for National Honor Society, and additional choir practice for at least two hours after school each week (while sometimes performing community service with the choir as well). I want to become an engineer; so I take AP classes that are useful and interest me because I will need to know advanced math and science concepts in college. All of these extra-curricular activities and academics will become even more relevant when it is time for me to advance my future goals of pursuing a higher education and making significant efforts to aid the world by designing helpful technology with medical applications.
If I were the person that I used to be back in high school, or even directly after high school, I would fail these classes with straight “F”s. The reason is not because I was not smart enough, but because I was not willing to put in the effort, concentration, and dedication needed to get a good grade. This is hard work! Good thing I decided to grow up a bit in the past 14 years so I take it seriously.
Threw out my high school career, I have been at Camelback High School within the Montessori program that is relatively new to the school. How much luck does one need to get drafted by their favorite team right after college? A lot of people say that all it takes is hard work and dedication but I am going to do a little more. Coming back from summer vacation is difficult, but coming back and having to start in a totally new environment makes it even harder. I remember coming back and being confuzed. Not just academically, but also socially. I would wonder how I would fit in with my new peers, and if I would start falling behind in my classes. Lucky for you, I have some advice for you, so you can do your absolute best in Jr. High, whether it’s academically, socially, or anything about personal responsibility, I’ve got you covered.
In ten years I will be twenty six and would hopefully be out of school. I would have gone to school and gotten my bachelor’s degree in mortuary science in one of the sixty schools that are accredited by the Board of Funeral Service Education. I would have done my apprenticeship at a funeral home and gotten my certificate to be a certified mortician. I would be trying to open up my own funeral home to support my family. As a mortician I would work from funeral homes or crematoriums, and helping families who have had family members who have recently deceased.
There was no warning, no dramatic police report, nothing that resembled the movies I watched growing up. I shouldn 't have been surprised, seeing how Yuba City was so insignificant to the rest of the world, but I suppose deep in my heart I was disappointed. The first half of this semester was swift and I can’t believe how fast it passed by. College is a whole new world for me that I had never imagined with a lot of new experiences that I hope will shift me into a better and smarter person. There are more things I can do in college that I would have never dared to do in high school and I am happy for these new freedoms. I am able to eat in class, leave class without asking and they don’t care if I pay attention or not. My high school teachers would always tell me to wait for the bell, sometimes would not let me leave and if I did not pay attention they would yell.
Everyone changes in high school; however, some people change for the worse others for the best. From middle to high school I change to become a friendly person. My change in high school turned out to be good so far. When I entered high school I was terrified but confident because I was eager to see my friends, but I was also worried because I didn’t know a lot of people.
Over the past year and a half, I have thought about numerous potential double majors because I want to take advantage of my time at school and get the most for my money. I quickly learned this year that while I am a sophomore in terms of credits, I have actually fulfilled almost every requirement for my major, and just finished all of my general education components. The inner mega-planner in me feels satisfied, and I am now determined to graduate a year early in 2019. Since I just need to stock up on credits, I am exploring various subjects next semester and only taking two theater classes. To achieve my goal of graduating in three years, I will have to take twenty two credits every semester for the next year and a half.
I doubled up in math and science classes, and Advanced Placement Courses called my name. By the end of high school, I had taken nine AP Courses. I was able to maintain A’s in most classes. I quickly realized doubling up in math and science may not have been the right road for me, so I quickly began doubling history and Language and Literature courses toward the end of my high school career. Classes do not scare me.
