Volunteering At Henry Ford Hospital

It was the beginning of June 2015. I had signed up to start volunteering at the Henry Ford Hospital. I was not sure what my job there would be, and I had no experience, whatsoever, working in a hospital. I knew that I would not be assigned a difficult job as it would be my first time working there. My job there was about to start in a few weeks. Before I started my job, I would have to get a few shots and I always hated getting those, but I did want to work there at the same time. Every time I went there to get a shot, I closed my eyes. And then came the part where I got my uniform and ID. That was when I got more excited to start my job there. It was July 7th, the first day of my job. I put on my uniform, which was sort of big on me, and left to go there. I was assigned to work in the Food and Nutrition Department. At first I thought I would have to bake and cook meals, but it turned out that I would be assisting the chefs and setting up the cafeteria tables. My mom told me I should ask them, so I realized that my only choice was to ask the head chef. The next day, I went, trembling, and asked the head chef if I could so something different. He told me that I could bake some sugar free desserts for the patients. I agreed to do it and I had someone beside me in case I needed help. I still continued my other job, though. Asking the head chef if I could do something else made me not feel shy to ask him any other questions. I got to know the head chef better and the other chefs. I would spend some of my lunch break talking to the other nurses. They recommended me cakes and tasty sugar free drinks. From that day on, I knew many people who worked in the
